Title: 2000 niagara door
Post by: Dee4j on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
the rivet that holds the step bars together broke and my door panel is bent.

whats the best way to fix the bar and dent?  can I just buy the outside panel of the step or do I have to get an entire door.

I know this has happened to others, I saw the same " bend"   on another PU and wondered how such a dent /bend could happen...well now I know.

 thanks

Dee4jI don t know how badly your door panel is bent, but I had to replace the entire stepper door on mine due to my screwup. Moving my brother s trailer around my camper, I forgot to raise the stepper door and the tire from the trailer pushed the door, then went up on it.

It was $575 to replace it. I hope you have better luck.

 Dee4jDee4j,

Your door is like mine on the Utah, now the question I have is  the rivet what is that broke or the slider screw? If it is the slide screw it can be fixed. If the fold rail is bent, I am sure it can be bent back into shape if not bent to bad.

Dee4jI guess maybe its the slider screw? there are 2 bars held together by a rivet they are what holds the stepper door when open.

Dee4jCan you just put a bolt and a nylon lock nut on it? Don t tighten it all the way and it will still hinge OK. I don t know about the skin on the door.
