Well, it looks like I may be making my first trip to a campground that doesn t have a racetrack attached! And my first time camping with hookups!
My cousin in Knoxville, TN, is on vacation next week so I m going to try and get a couple of days off so the two of us can head toward the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area. There seem to be several nice campgrounds in that area, and some of you have already offered some suggestions. (Thanks, BTW.)
I bought a water regulator lik several suggested in response to my previous question.
Here s my new question...all of the campgrounds offer hookups. Some have cable TV also. My Utah has a cable TV input and I have a small TV I keep in the camper. I m sort of assuming that if I want to connect to the cable hookup, I ll have to provide the coax cable that goes from the hookup to the camper. Is that the way it usually works? If, how long a piece do I need? (I have several short lengths of coax lying around that came with various items. But I can swipe the 50 piece that goes into my bedroom if I need one that long.)
Any other suggestions for a " full hook-up rookie" ? [:)]
labontefanMost of the time cable hook up s I ve seen are next to the power hook up poles, I would say under 25 but more should be fine too. You can then run a small line from inside the camper to the TV or if you want just run from the TV through the side and to the box and save a connection.
labontefanYou should be safe with your 50 foot piece. When I bought a piece for the 1 trip we had with cable, I bought a 25 foot piece.
labontefanFor some unknown reason I have a 12 piece...but I have a connector and another 12 piece because DW wanted the Televison at the front of the camper and the hookup was at the rear[&:][8D]Usually 25 will be more that plenty.

labontefanDon t forget a second shorter peice. In my trailer, there are two cable junctions, one on the outside of the trailer to hookup to the source and one inside to hook up to the tv. I find that if I hook up the inside cable and raise the antenna, I get a few more channels depending on where I am.
I recall one camper during hockey play-offs ran a cable from inside to the outside thru a vent so a bunch could watch the game.[:)]
labontefanYep, bring your own cable. I would think 25 would be more than enough, the cable hook-up s are generally right at the power pole, which are normally there on the left side of the campsite where your trailers electric, water, drain connections are. Someone else mentioned having a short piece for inside too. I carry a 25 section of cable, and has always been way too much, but better to have too much than not enough!
labontefanOur camper already had a piece of cable in the dinette bench storage area. I think it was around 25 and should be about right.....might want longer depending on where you are going to position the Television.
