How about a pamphlet or something we can give pop-uppers we meet along the way? Something that tells about the mag, with the address to the web site, a subscription card, and maybe how to get a sample mag?
Like you, we ve never seen a sticker outside of a rally, but we ve seen lots of pop-ups and while we re not going to go door-to-door, if we end up talking about the magazine or the boards all we can do is write the web site on a sheet of paper that is almost certain to get lost...

AustinBostonThats a great idea AB....I can help if ya with Designing maybe Dave if ya want.
AustinBostonSomeone who is new and was checking the group board found me the last time I was out. Identified me by the bumper sticker.
AustinBostongreat stoichie...so far no one has approached me....
AustinBostonJust email Dave - he has had them for the past 2 years. We have a small stack left that he had mailed to us last year.
Although, for the most part, we have found people not real thrilled to be handed a phamphlet. We keep them handy just in case someone asks.
AustinBostonI ve never received a pop up times, should I be?
AustinBostonNot unless you ve subscribed to the MAGAZINE. two different subscriptions.
AustinBostonluvtacamp,
YES you should.[:D]
AustinBostonDave sent me some brochures a year or two ago. I have given some out when people have approached me. I don t go camper to camper handing them out.

Quotehanding out door-to-door
Ya know I used to do this, but got real tired of shaving my head.

AustinBostonAt one of the CG s I like to go to, I laid the pamphlets on the hood of my vehicle so that anyone walking by could see them and grab one.(covered the entire hood so it was very noticeable) Also left some at the office before leaving. Some of them disappeared too.
AustinBostonI made PUT business cards with the site address and logo on it. I made 100 of them and in my last two trips gave out about 15. Maybe someone will join. I always have them in my PU in the drawer next to the door. Being that my PU is a 92 Viking it has the unusual blue vinyl canvas color, so I have had several people stop to look at it. Thats when we start talking PUT. Plus I have my issues of PUT mag in the PU also so I have somewhat of a reference guide and also can show them the mag.[:)]
AustinBostonI have just returned from a camping trip from Cherrystone Va campgound and I did not see any bumper stickers. How about a Pop-up-Times flag? This would be a starter for conversations.
AustinBostonI have put a " join us" card on bulleten boards at campgrounds with a information about this site and a small picture of a pop-up cut from ads several times. I cover it with some ironed on plastic.
As my husband says no stickers on the PU or truck we do not have one.
AustinBostonYep.. Dave can send you out some.. I have a stack I keep in my 4Runner (In fact I gave one out in Maryland to some women who stoped and was asking about pop-ups.. What I need is some buissnes cards for my web site.. Easy to do, just gottta get off my duff.

Is THAT why DH is shaving his head now??!! [:D]
AustinBostonHas anyone thought about leaving old issues of Pop-Up Times in the bathrooms at campgrounds? We have picked up several camping and other mags that way. We read them then return them to the bathroom for the next guy. In this way, you won t have to worry about the camper who doesn t like to be bothered while camping. Just be sure to take your name off the front of the mag.

I m not allowed stickers also, so I put the stickers on a magnet sheet (9x12 - $2.99 at craft stores), cut out the sticker and applied to vehicles. Also, can now put one on the PU as it has a bumper (not like the old one - it only had about a 2" bumper).
Works great and can then be moved -- DH like to put on the TV at the CG on the fender that faces the flow of traffic.

I ve never seen a magazine rack in a CG bathroom. And there s hardly ever a dry spot to sit anything? [: (]The only reading in there is written on the walls, Hmm?
AustinBostonain t giving out my old issue...i now have them in the mag rack next to my thetford!
gee..maybe i will make some card or print pamphlets...hmmm...wonder if dave has a dl doc of the pamphlet. must email him.
AustinBostonWhile heading north this past weekend, we saw lots of PU s, but no stickers. I did have a chance to talk to the people from 3 of the PU s we saw, asked them if they ve ever heard of PUT, and none had. I told them how to find us, and maybe they ll check it out.

wiininkweOK - But we re going to reward you for your efforts.
How s this?
We ll affix a your ARVEE number to the subscription brochures that we send you and add an issue to your subscription for every new subscription that comes in with your number.
For every new ARVEE membership that references your number we ll extend your membership by 1 month.
Dave
AustinBostonLast time we were out camping I told DH the same idea. We always have people either who already own pop-ups who visit us wanting to see our floorplan, or someone considering a pop-up wanting to check ours out. I always tell them about the site, but something on paper would be better to hand out. And there s always bulletin boards at CGs that are ripe for putting something about the site and magazine. Sometimes we pop-uppers are feeling a little like the left out bunch of the RV crowd, and it would be nice for others to know about us.
This also brings up the question of a trial membership, say seven days, for someone to check out the boards to decide if they like it and would like to continue with a formal membership. I know it s been brought up before. If I had never seen what PUT was about, I don t know as a newbie that I d have been willing to invest my $30 just to check it out and see how informational it could be. As we all know, once you visit a few times it becomes an addiction, so those visiting would probably join.

How will you do this? Mass mail all members with brochures or just those who want some -- I d like some brochures also
wiininkweI would like some of the brochures also. Do we e-mail you with our address?
wiininkweIn the past, I have given out about 50 of those brochures. Hope Dave got some subscriptions out of those. I also keep PUT issues in the camper and put it out on the picnic table during camping time as there are always people coming over to see what I m cooking or to chat. Everyone picks up the mag and likes it.
wiininkweIf you want brochures send an email to: dave@popuptimes with the word brochure in the subject line - be sure to include your name & address in the body of the email so we don t have to look it up
Thanks
Dave
