DBGCAMPWe bought a Group 27 battery last year, and have used it just a couple of times. Seems like a decent battery.

DBGCAMPNot a thing wrong with the batteries they sell.  Just don t let their so called " mechanics"  install it[:@]!  They don t know the difference between " +"  and " -" , at least not from all I ve seen and heard[: (]!

 DBGCAMPDave or Larry,
Are the Wamart deep cycle batteries true deep cycle?  Do they have a starting CCA (a sign of a not so true deep cycle)?

 Thanks!!!

DBGCAMPUnfortunatly having a CCA (cold cranking amps) rating on a battery is no longer a sign of it not being a true Deep Cycle. Several battery manufacturers have added starting values to ALL their batteries for some marketing reason.
If it s a maintenance free sealed battery it isn t a deep cycle and Marine/deep cycle batteries are also hybrids which are to be avoided if possible.

DBGCAMPA true deep cycle battery can t start anything.  It is just meant to be drained and recharged.  So if they list the CCA it should be 0, right?

 DBGCAMPDBGCAMP,

We have Walmart Group 24 batteries and haven t had any problem with them. They last a long time (dry camping) and were inexpensive.

When buying " deep cycle"  batteries from Walmart, be advised that they sell different types! The type you want to obtain is the " Deep Cycle-Trolling"  battery. The others aren t really deep cycle and are made for marine starting use.

DBGCAMPThanks for all the feed back ...
I will have to take another look and make sure that the batteries are in-fact true " Deep Cycle"
