Just returned from five fantastic days in Cherokee, NC. Visted Clingman s Dome, Maggie Valley, Gatlinburg, Unto these Hills, the Smoky Mtn. National Park and more. Got to white water raft down the Nantahala, tube the Oconoluftee and endless shoppin for the wife and daughter. Stayed at Yogi in the Smokies which was unbelievable. About six miles up a windy road from downtown and close to the local KOA. Tried for weeks to find someone that had been there, but no luck so I was beginning to wonder what I d gotten us into, but let me take the time to highly recommend this CG. About 200 sites in the middle of the Cherokee reservation, mostly shaded, full hooks including some with cable, and it borders a magnificent loud and rushing river. They have fire rings at every site and most campers had all day and night fires burnin. They also have activities just about every day and night and kids were everywhre. It was truly a once in a lifetime camping experience....check it out if you ever go to the hills..you won t regret it.

woodthumbGlad you have a good trip. I would like to hear more about the campground too.
woodthumbThe Cherokee KOA is super nice as well. We stay at the KOA and drive up to Mingo Falls by the Jellystone Campground and tube back to the KOA.
