Title: It's Time!
Post by: homecrew on Oct 20, 2003, 05:38 PM
Time for some Autumn camping and doing some leaf peeping. We're taking off on Thursday to Table Rock State Park to enjoy the leaves and traipsing through the forest.:D

Nothing like a campfire to sit beside to warm you up on a nice brisk morning. Camping here we come...how about you?

I wish we could join you, but most (all except 2) campgrounds in this area are closed now. Last year, Halloween week we had a really great snowstorm. So it could get very cold, very soon, here. But it will warm up again.

Yahoo! we are headed out this weekend. Not sure how much color we'll see. Peak passed this weekend in the North here.  Thought about going to Ohio, but they really make it difficult for forest camping  within the distance we want to drive.

So here's to hoping there will still be some leaves on the trees where ever we end up.
It's looking like the Grayling area along the Ausauble River.

I'm not sure whether we have missed the peak or not. If so, it wasn't too long ago. There should still be some color. We are actually looking forward to the hiking in the forest more than the colors. But both would be good!

Hope you get some color wherever you end up.:)

sort of sounds like you're going to the beach, doesn't it:rolleyes:

Love Table Rock SP and Oconnee.  I'm jealous but we have a trip to Blythe Island Cnty CG in Brunswick GA scheduled for this Thursday.  Have a great time and let me know if the leaves are about to peak.

We took a road trip on Sunday to check out another SP near us and the most of the leaves got blown away.  That's what seems to happen to us, the leaves change and within a few days, we have a lot of wind and their gone

We did however enjoy the SP and plan to camp there.  If DH ever gets a full-time job, we plan on celebrating by going camping so I hope that's soon.

:D  Yep, we're headed out this weekend too. We're headed toward Chesapeake Bay Virginia for the Halloween festivities.  Not a nice quiet campground in the mountains..but should be lots of fun for the Halloween stuff. We don't have little ones anymore, but love to see them all dressed up and give out the goodies!  I've stocked up on all sorts of things to give out! Crayons, markers, halloween coloring books,   puzzles, etc...plus candy, candy, candy....

I'm looking forward to it..and of course, to a huge campfire, the smell and sound of crunching on the downed leaves, waking up to the smell of coffee brewing and bacon cooking on the fire....ahhhh...camping........not much better!

We're taking off this weekend for 4 days up to Robber's Cave SP in SE Oklahoma.  Should be colorful with lots to do.  I'll post pictures when we get back.
