There's supposed to be visible meteor showers around 2am, probably in the SE sky, if you're going to be up at that time.:)
Thanks, B-flat,
I usually keep track of those with The Old Farmer's Almanac. My wife has stuck one of those in my stocking at Christmas for years but missed it last year for some reason. With out it, I lost track of the Leonid's this year. Will be watching.
Did anyone get to see the meteor shower?
Nope - just read about it from you! Did you see it?
We missed it. Too late on a work night. :(
I missed it also. I took a look before I went to bed but there was nothing in the sky.

I'm confused. Your original post said meteor shower Nov18 but you posted that on Nov. 19. Your post was a day too late. Maybe that is why nobody (including you) saw it.
I went out Wednesday moning around 4:30 am and stayed out for 25 minutes. I saw 6 really nice meteors. One bordered on being a bolide (sort of explosive and sparkly). Not much, but not a bust either.
The meteor shower was supposed to be at 2a.m which would be during the night of the 18th or if getting technical anything after midnight would actually be the 19th. The news media said it could be anywhere from the 18-20th but several sources said the best time was on the 19th. Perhaps it was the time this board generates that caused the confusion, depending on where you are.
Darn, I missed it too......I slept through the ones in August too!
Well, maybe next year..........

Oh, heck, Al, you'd probably have slept through the whole thing in 79AD if you'd been in Pompei then ;)

I miss all the showers !!!! No I don't mean I go around stinking, I miss the Meteor showers .... I so wanted to see this one :( The only time I see a meteor is when we are at a drive in watching a movie ..... Next time something like this is due, can we have advance notice please ?
Hey, I did give advance notice. It's just the time thingy with this board, off 5 hours or something like that.:o

Boy, Nancy, am I ever glad you mentioned the time difference, I was going nuts here trying to figure out what I had done to screw up the time showing when my posts were made.
Also, Birol, do you mean to say that you have "drive-in theaters" in Whitby?
:C

Movie theaters, yup, not in Whitby, but close, 45 minuets drive or so, we love them as a family ! We load up on popcorn, nachos, coke and get into the windstar and take off for the night. It is a lovely quite a few horus under the stars :W

that is TOO COOL!! We lived in south Florida when I was a kid and my follks would do the same thing for my little brother and me. Wonderful memories. :S Then later, when I was older of course, I went to the drive-in with friends and discovered why they were also called "passion-pits" but that's another story. :o  :o
Well, we missed it this year - but we made it in 2001.
We went over to the Ft. Whaley Campground (http://www.title-3.com/Trips/FtWhaley.htm) in November 2001for the "showers".
We stayed up all night and drove inot an area with no background lighting to view the show.
It was truly amazing to see all of the shooting stars at one time!

Did you manage to take any pictures by any chance , any one of you ? A 1600 ASA film would probably be enough to tka ea few good shots .....
