Some of you already know this, but I'm so excited to share the good news with the rest of the board. After two plus years of PUT membership I AM FINALLY GETTING OFF THE GROUND!!!
My parents have decided that their pop-up days are about over due to some on-going health issues. So, they are selling us their '93 Palomino Filly. It has a/c, porta-potti, the useless ice chest, awning, etc. The pu is currently in it's winter home (my sister in west TN has way more storage area than I do) and the rest of the time it will still live in my parents' yard. My own yard is about the size of a postage stamp at the end of a long drive, and there is no way I am backing that thing up that drive. If Mom and Dad decide they do want to use the pu, of course they will be allowed to. ;) In the meantime, I have a few months to plan and add to the extensive tent camping supplies I can use. This is going to be so much fun. Oh yeah....who wants to teach me how to back up?

...and if she isn't very helpful, I'll help you! (course somebody might have to help me up after laughing so hard!) Congratulation, Jan!! Can't wait to park my Palomino next to yours. (PUs don't breed in captivity, do they? ;) )
For a very short moment, I thought the post was by Birol and had to read it again!!! ;)
Congratulations on the trailer! You're now officially one of us!!! As for backing up, just tow the thing to a big empty parking lot somewhere, and start practicing, it's not so hard to do once you get the hang of it!!!

Congrats! Only, try and be a little excited, willya? ;)

Hehehehe. Ok, nobody teaches anybody anything unless they have a digital recorder so's the rest of us can download it and watch the fun, too. Or,
think about adding a front hitch to your TV, if possible. That will make "pushing" the trailer back up the driveway to your house a snap.
Way to go, Jan!
Congratulations Jan,
You really deserve it. Hope it brings you many happy camping trips. Maybe one down this way ;)
See ya soon.
Congratulations, cyclone. And to teach you how to back up, put your hand at the bottom of the wheel and turn to right and see which way it backs.:D I know you can't wait to go camping or to outfit that camper.
Woo hoo! Another trailer for TPUC!
Larry
Congratulations on the PU. :)
Backing up isn't "hard" it is just another adventure in camping experience. :D

Jan, this is great news! glad you got it.
I learned by watching the truck driver across the street back mine in the drive (Bantam was in the way to pull it through), after every one in the neighbor hood came out to watch my attempts at backing (have a fence on one side and a hedge on the other). He did everything in moderation, next time I got it into the same shute, without hitting anything. The nice thing about a popup (single axiled) is that you can always unhitch and push it in place.
Jan! This is totally cool!!!!
Don't worry about backing up! I think learning is sort of a public service, as it provides great entertainment to your neighbors. My neighbors have been known to pull out their lawn chairs when they see that it's me making an attempt at backing up our driveway! They expend great amounts of energy laughing at me!
This is just totally cool!

Hello Cyclone,
Two years...... isn't your decission kinda sudded, and impulsive?
Only kidding....
Hope you enjoy many years of camping with the Palomino. They are great campers.
Keep your kindling dry,
Hoppy
PS: backing up these things is a piece of cake. Just practice, practice, and practice.
We have not met yet but we are truly happy for you. We really wish we did not wait so long to get ours. Spring is just around the corner....kinda
I'm really happy for you Jan!
But, please don't backup (or go forward) in your yard!! You never know what might be there!!! LOL (inside joke folks) :W

You Da Women! Congrats and happy camping
Is there any one I could be Happier for?
No I don't think so.....
You will do just fine with the backing. Best way to practice is to GO CAMPING!
Congratulations........ :W
Jan Congratulations! Just in time for Christmas too! So now you can sit on Santas lap and tell him all the things you want for the camper. Excellent!!!
Oh, this is TOOOO WONDERIFEROUS and Grandiocious and may I add something like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! :S You have been so patient, Jan, and so absolutely good-humored about your long wait and now it is finally over and we all rejoice for you. You will truly love knowing you will always be able to be off the ground, no bedmate for spiders and such, and DRY! Yayyyy :D Now all we need to do is find one for Birol and we can all do The Dance of Joy for him, too.
May every moment in your new turtle=shell home, every mile travelled with it, bring you happy memories. As for the backing up, well--I guess that will bring amusing memories for your audience just as it does for mine. :W Hugs, EA

As DH would say -- you know a 3 lipped word - your education has paid off, or is this dating yourself. Cyclone -- Congrats on the new purchase
