Post by: Old Goat on Mar 14, 2004, 06:08 AM
Gas prices here in North Carolina are going up almost every day. Today, the price of regular is $1.62 here in Shelby,NC. Tomorrow, it will surely be higher....Hows the price where you are and how will the higher prices affect your camping travel this summer?.......

I buy premium gas for the truck, as it knocks much less when towing (I never know when I might grab the ATV trailer and go somewhere). It has been as high as $1.89 around here. Ouch!

Fortunately, gas is not a big problem for me. I use about a tank a week (if I don't stray from work/home too much). Holly, however, has a 33 mile drive (one way) to school, not to mention all the other places she has to go for clinicals. But her Maxima gets decent mileage, so she probably uses less than 2 tanks a week.

Our nearest station is a Speedway on the corner, and the price there is $1.59.9 per gallon this morning.  I think that's probably the best we'll see for a while, so DH is making a double run to fill up both vehicles.   Something tells me that no one who matters where gas prices are concerned is going to actually be honest, or care what this price gouging does to most of us 'little guys'.   I know, I read the articles too, that said there is no evidence that this is gas gouging, but I just have a hard time with the concept that the oil cartels and refineries have to pay more for their gas every thursday thru saturday, like we do.

Right now it is $1.74.9 here where I live and they are talking about possible $2.00 by summer. Pretty soon I am going to have to get a second job just to pay for gas.

If the prices keep increasing at this rate, The gas cost to drive to the eastern rally will cost more than the CG fees for 5 days !  :J

Here in this part of Vermont, it's about $1.719! I have no doubts that now that they've floated the "trial balloon" forecasting prices as high as $3.00 per gallon, that they will be there!

just filled up  this afternoon--$1.53 and nine tenths pg.  I've been tempted a couple times to get something more powerful, but now I'm glad I stuck with my     little 6 cyl engine--22 miles per gallon on the highway and 16 towing a full load.  My 7 year old Aerostar is starting to look pretty good to me again  :D even if I  am too chicken to pull the TM over the  Rockies with it  ;)

I know that they are high but consider this......maybe it will ease the
pain the next time we fill up.
Evian water   9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER
-and the buyers don't even know the source. So, the next time you're at
the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water :Z

We hit 1.78 today.  Up 20 cents from yesterday.  Fortunately, in St. Louis we have a website that give gas prices so you can go to the cheapest one near you.
