Title: What else should we have in the Store?
Post by: Admin on Apr 05, 2004, 01:46 PM
We have noticed not too many people using the Arvee club coupon code in the store lately.  Please use ARVEE872KY when checking out and you can receive your 10% discount.  Please also remember that shipping is free to the continental US.

Please respond here if there are items we should be adding.

Thanks

Steve

You've had some great items in the store. Problem is I've waited too long to buy them and they are gone when I'm finally ready! i've got to learn to buy it when I see it!

My favorite purchase was that woven plastic patio rug for outside the camper, Next were the bunk fan/ lights.

I agree, the mat was probably the best thing I have picked up!!!

You need to keep them in the store.

Hard mount 12V female plugs for the fantastic vent fan so I don't have a cord dangling over my head plugged in to the modified overhead llight.

Various clips and pin combinations (awning pole pins, coupler pins for Jaycos, coupler locks for Jaycos - some stqandard ones don't fit)...

How about a pop up tool kit of some kind?

Or an mini electrical kit with fuses, connectors, cutters, etc.

and a soft sided bag to put the tools, etc. in....

I don't pretend to have any idea how your on-line store works.  How much business do you get from non-members?  If it's mostly business from Arvee members, you need to stock items that need to be replenished yearly.  For instance, once a member buys a pati-o-mat, what are the chances of them needing another one anytime too soon.  On the other hand, if they bought porta-potty chemicals, they would need to buy that more often.

If you are looking to atract the non-members to your store, you need to carry the unique items that are hard to find elsewhere.

Some of the things I have found EXTREMELY useful and that I would recommend that others purchase (that you don't have in the store) are:
The Bal Leveler
The pati-o-mat
Plastic Aligator tarp clips (metal clips rust)
The Pop-a collection (plates, napkins, tissues, etc)
The Hitch Finder ( http://mysite.verizon.net/s_howland/Hitch_Finder.jpg (//%22http://mysite.verizon.net/s_howland/Hitch_Finder.jpg%22)  )
The most comfortable chair I've ever had and that everyone fights to sit in( http://www.greatoutdoors.com/go/product/highbackaluminumfoldingdeckchair/boatersworld.com/ (//%22http://www.greatoutdoors.com/go/product/highbackaluminumfoldingdeckchair/boatersworld.com/%22) )
These clips that have a hook on the end exactly fit the awning poles on Coleman pop-ups ( http://www.greatoutdoors.com/go/product/beachclip4pk/boatersworld.com/ (//%22http://www.greatoutdoors.com/go/product/beachclip4pk/boatersworld.com/%22) )

Boy, I have to say, there's not much you don't carry!  If I can think of anything else, I'll post another message.

I have been very pleased with all of my purchased with your store!  I hope that you can carry some more camping books & videos.  I also like to look for items that would be fun with camping such as games, gps products, radios, camp furniture, and lights/lanterns.  Also, some of the items that we have to make ourselves such as drain vents could be offered to new pop-up campers.  You may even have some people within the Arvee club that may have items they could sell through your service.

Some of the "must have items" I have that may be good to keep in the store include:  an EZ HITCH (http://www.ezhitch.biz/), then Endless Breeze Fan(I bought mine from you), woven mats (like you had before), an easy to use propane guage (still looking for one), Entry step cover (bought mine from local RV dealer), Locks for hitch & for tire to secure pop-up, Lynx Leveler and chock(bought mine from you), Neat tire covers (I have a plain one from local rv dealer), Mesh laundry bags (great for the pool/lake or for dirty clothes),  Holders for storing grocery store bags (made mine, but some I have seen look easier to use), trash can that folds down for storage (gift from my family-really works great http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=22060&src=SRCH&tcode=37).

I wish you the best of luck with the store.  I really like this site, magazine, & the store.

I wish you would bring back the T-SHIRTS. I am down to my last good one, and I save that just for camping.

While you're out shopping for new stuff to put in the store, how about locating and stocking a double axle BAL leveler for us dbl axle challenged Hybrid members?!?! Yeah I know, they don't make one...yet! Wishful thinking never hurt anyone though....;)

How about some fold down items like a mesh laundry hamper ("playhut style"), a foldup trash can (like the lawn and leaf style that folds down almost flat), dutch oven accessories like a lid lifter, DO or other camping cookbooks.

Any chance of still getting the 12x12 Paha Que screenroom?  I meant to order last year but never quite got around to it and my DH talked me out of it.  Then I found a rip in our current Eddie Bauer screenroom.....

Title: Bike Rack
Post by: Popupper on Apr 08, 2004, 10:12 AM
I really the new Pro Rac bike racks that you have in your store. I've never liked the idea of drilling into my roof or strapping a temporary rack on top so I haven't purchased a rack until now. They are a litte pricey but cheaper than a new roof or having the straps break and losing $1000+ in bikes. I ordered a 4-bike rack and can't wait to put it on.

Bruce,

Be sure to write a review in the Product Review section so that we all can know how well you like this rack. I think it looks really cool!

One other question about these bike racks (and admin, maybe you'll know the answer to this), will these bike racks work with campers that have the yakima canoe/kayak racks (dealer-installed) on the roof of the camper?  DH liked the racks too but thought that the rear tires of the bikes might hit the front cross bar of our kayak rack.

As for ideas of other things to carry in the PUT store, how about some vinyl tablecloths, tablecloth weights, dish and serving utensil organizers, rubbermaid/sterlite containers, folding crates (like the ones at Wal-Mart), fold-up dish drainer, porta pottis and their chemicals.

How about a review section within the store so when we look at the product and think, "Wonder if that's as good as it looks?" we can read a PUT member review on the product?  I'd be more trusting of another PUT member's opinion than the manufacturer's promo.  Maybe a link for "read member review" next to the product description.

This is really great advice.  Thanks!

Please look at the "What's New" section on the store.

We have put the mats back and added lots of 12v appliances.

The BAL Leveler and the BAL Wheel Chock are both great items for pop-up's. Already have them but, I'd highly recommend both items to others.

Drink "coozies" (huggers?) with the PUT logo would be quite a status symbol at the CG too;)

A really good clothes drying rack that folds up.  They have one at Target that is plastic and metal I think, anyway it looks better and sturdier that the wooden ones, weighed a bit more but not a lot, and folded flater.  Or maybe some other type of clothes rack and clothes line system.  The folding mesh laundry hampers would be a great addition also.

Things that would be reordered could be:  the individual packs of creamer, jelly(like you use at a restaurant) I personally like this one because I get the variety pack and that way we choose our favorite flavor, coffee in the filter packs.  Individual packs keep things fresh, plus they do not have to be put in the refrigerator.

Can we get bumper stickers on a magnet to attach easily without it being permanently attached or would they be too expensive?

Title:
Post by: jstaddwtr on Jun 03, 2004, 10:06 AM
I agree with the magnetic sticker.  It would be nice to be able to purchase a air matress or bedding that we know will fit the bed size we have. Same with runners for the floor.   That's one of the reasons the pop-up gizmos are attractive, because you order and know it will fit.   Likewise, storage boxes or containers that will fit neatly under the slide out dinette or under the sink realizing there are variances.  I second the clothes hanger, kitchenette, (I liked the coozie idea!!!!)  Break down kits, flares etc.  Any other hanger or holder that could be used easily in the PU.  Canvas cleaner.  but whatever the product, knowing it is of a high quality and will last.

Sorry if some of this is repetative....thanks for asking!

They do offer a cleaner that works great.

http://www.popuptimes.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=P&Product_Code=insta&Category_Code=RV (//%22http://www.popuptimes.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=P&Product_Code=insta&Category_Code=RV%22)

Says effective on mold, mildew, soot, water stains and nicotine.

I'm sure it would be great as just a general cleaners also

EEEK!!!! you mean I didn't automatically get the discount when I bought the $70 Endless Breeze fan?  Isn't there some way you could remind people at the time of purchase?

That being said....all those suggestion are great, but if the price is a lot higher than, say, Wal-Mart you may find a lot of inventory and not that many buyers.

Go to Wal-Mart to the craft section and buy a flat magnet.  They are a little bigger than the bumper sticker.  Peal the paper from the magnet and the bumper sticker and stick them together.  Trim the extra magnet away and you have a magnetic bumper sticker. :)

PS they will blow off in an automatic car wash :o

With a large amount of current PU owners making the switch to Hybrids, or those considering the switch, you might place some more emphasis on items geared toward those users, especially dealing with starter kits such as sewer hose, couplings, fittings, and chemicals. Hybrid TT's don't normally come equipped with these things, and those moving to the next level of trailer need this stuff just to take care of everyday things like dumping tanks etc. These are your current customers, and no need to write them off because they move to a different class of unit, keep them here by offering some useful items for them (us) as well as the normal PU crowd. This is a growing list of people, and every month we see someone else making the switch!!

I'm still waiting on a double axle BAL Leveler!!!! ;)

I have look through the store and cannot find the 505 Rubber Protectant that I have read is a very good product and would like to purchase, I also am looking for a cleaner to remove the black streaks which are evidently caused by water marks on the popup outside surface.

I use the PUT awning cleaner for the sides of my popup, it gets the dirty streaks off very well.
