Title: Tow Vehicles and Tow Rigs database
Post by: gsm x2 on Apr 28, 2004, 12:20 AM
I happened to mention the PUT database on another thread. Seems that every time I put one of these things together, PUT changes servers and we lose the link.

At the risk of jinxing PUT, here it is again, about 808 nicknames, tow vehicles, and campers.

http://www.sccampers.org/puttowrigs.htm (//%22http://www.sccampers.org/puttowrigs.htm%22)

e-mail me to add or correct as needed.

BTW--I only add people who either e-mail me or post to this thread. I don't add names by looking at people's signatures.

Very funny Birol.  That pretty well should seal the jinx.  Look for the servers to go down this weekend.

We need to be updated. The tow vehicle and the trailer.

We are still just the 6 of us.

Now Y-Guy on the other hand is a bit of a problem.
the only thing you have correct for him is his Nick Name, everything else has changed, his trailer twice since you did the list!!!

Scott,

Thanks for updtaing the database!  And yes, we like our new TV very much.  It is funny though, we still miss the old TV - 1994 K1500 Blazer.  It has been recycled - my brother in law uses it for camping trips with his son!

The only change I would ask you make to ours is "T-E-N-N-E-S-S-E-E."

We have a 2003 car.  It has more than 32,000 miles on it.  How many does Dave has on his?

Scott
I'd be surprised if he even has 5,000 on it, and we bought it in July of 2003.  I know it sounds like a joke, but he really only dirves it to church on Sundays!

The only reason the mileage may even be as "high" as 5,000 is because sometimes I'm too lazy to take Griffin's car seat out on Monday mornings and so I drive the Expy to take Griffy to pre-school (shhh...don't tell Dave...) ;)

Just spoke to "da man". He said he has about 3,200 on it.:yikes:

The trip to Pismo oughta help that out a bit! ;)  Oh yeah, and the few miles we'll put on it this weekend as we go camping in San Clemente!  (San Mateo cg--drop by if you're in the neighborhood!):D

Just checked ours officially...35,128.  Guess it won't rust out for lack of use.

Can an avalanche also tow a 5'th wheel  ? Just curious ?
Title:
Post by: brainpause on May 03, 2004, 06:56 AM
It would have to be a small one, as most Avalanches are built on a 1/2 ton chassis (Not sure, but I THINK there are some 2500 Avalanches out there). 3/4 ton trucks/chassis (F250/2500) are minimum ideal for a fiver. Also, there might not be enough clearance around all the trim that is on an Avalanche.

That is the reason I asked, (Sorry for hijacking the thread) Their bed seems to bne small, I thought it would not accomodate any 5'th whels at all. I was thining maybe it would be an ideal tow vehicle for those  who pull a regular PU/TT and maybe upgrade to a 5'th wheel later on. probably not.

Birol,
The Avalanche is actually a Suburban w/ the modified rear end.  The Av is the exact length of the Suburban and has the exact same towing capacity of the Burb.  The 2500 Av has a much greater towing capacity especially with the optional 8.1L motor.  I did not need the slurp of the larger motor or the capacity to tow 11k at this time.  Maybe in the future.  There is talk of the ability of a 5th wheel attachment but nothing has been developed at this time.
