Title: Tennessee Sales Tax Refund
Post by: tricia hicks on Jun 04, 2004, 08:32 AM
The Tennessee Court of Appeals recently ruled that Internet access is no longer a taxable telecommunication service under Tennessee law.  If you purchased internet access in the state of Tennessee after 01/01/2001, you may be eligible for a refund of any sales tax paid.  Consumers must seek the refund directly from their internet service provider.    Assuming a monthly internet charge of $40.00 for service in Nashville, TN for 3 years, the refund would be approximately $133.00!    I have attached  links to the websites for Comcast and BellSouth where you can get information about obtaining the refund.  If you have any other internet service provider, you should contact them directly.

Only refund requests submitted by July 17, 2004 will be honored.  I have also attached a link to the Tennessee Dept of Revenue's website which explains in more detail the refund procedures.
