Title: Camping World ...
Post by: birol on Jun 15, 2004, 07:16 AM
When I was coming back with Finally from Mass, I saw a Camping world on the right side of the road but it was after hours and I did not stop. It LOOKED huge from outside .....

Are they worth a visit ? Should I make time to visit one when I am going to the eastern rally ?

Remember no question asked is a stupid question ! So behave :):) :yikes:

Yes it is worth the stop if, at least, to just check out what they have.  Always remember to check at Wally World (Wal-Mart) first and other places if you are looking for a particular item because Camping World can get expensive.  If you know what they carry you can compare prices.  There are some things that you can't get any where else, so you pay the price anyway.  Also, it is well worth joining he President's Club because you get a 10% discount on everything you purchase.  It really adds up when they have sales.  And, if you find something in their website, the store may not have it.  We have run into that problem before.  So call to make sure the store has the item before you make the trip to the store.

Earl and I have been to two Outdoor World Stores (is that the same as Camping World?) - one in Concord, NC and One in Nashville, TN. The one thing that was worth the stop was a 30 foot long indoor fish tank with HUGE fish in it....I remember a blue catfish that must have been 4 foot long! I also got a cute pair of camo overalls for my one year old grandson - I had never seen them anywhere else.

If you are into Dutch Oven Cooking - (or any outdoor cooking, for that matter) this store also had tons of equipment, ingrediants, and recipe stuff that your average WalMart or Sports Store would not have.

I also found childrens toys with camping themes - toy campers, and doll figures (like Barbie) with lots of camping accessories.

Earl was also impressed with the fishing gear...rows and rows of it.

I would say that if you have time, it's definately worth a stop - just to window shop, if nothing else.

Camping World and Outdoor World are two different companies!  Camping World is mostly RV stuff...Outdoor World is owned by Bass Pro and has camping (all the accessories, cooking stuff, tents, bags, screen rooms..but not much for RVs) fishing, hiking, boating....  They are both great shops...but I can go through a Camping World in about an hour and see everything I want..I could spend days in Outdoor World!  LOL    Depends on what ya want.   You can order a catalog from both online!

Lots of good dreaming in these catalogs!  :>

We're getting both one of the big Bass Pro stores and a Camping World Super Center near here. I think I'd better cut up the credit cards before they open and Birol. either is worth a visit, just leave the credit cards and the check book home.

Wow Mike...sounds like trouble!  LOL  We have both within an hours drive or less and just had a new Gander mountain store open up last weekend about 45 minutes away last weekend. Can't wait to hit that one too.  The pictures in their advertisement look very similar to Bass Pro's Outdoor World.  Woohoo!
Title: Fun to Visit

Camping World is a great place to visit, if you like to camp. They have things you didn't even know you needed. If you can walk from one end of the store to the other and not find something you really need (and didn't know it!) you're a unique person.
