I was helping Birol get Finally set up and I ripped a 3/4 inch tare in his canvas. It was where it goes over the bunkend corner. I feel so bad :( . He said it was ok but that doesn't make me feel any better. After all the work he put into fixing and I cause him more work. I will have to do something to make it up to him.

The old canvas is fragile. If he's serious about restoring this old girl, he needs to start saving his coins for new canvas.... From what I understand, the trailer itself is sound, so some new canvas would give it a lot longer life!
I am sure that if he had been sewing this canvas at home all this time, he would have taken his sewing supplies with him knowing that it was likely to keep happening.
The canvas must be dry rotted pretty badly, he needs to plan on dealing with these rips often until he gets new canvas for it. It isn't going to get any better, that's for sure.
I knew it was fragile, I should have been more carefull. Maybe I can find something as a peace offering to him. :)

I can't remember who, but someone offered to bring their canvas repair with them and help Birol, so hopefully they'll still bring it and can get it fixed-up.

I know that he has been saving for this! His ebay stuff was his Finally fund. He even kept a running tab of how much he had put away for work on finally. It used to be at the bottom of his posts but I don't see it there anymore. MaAybe he tapped it out before the big trip.
I was there when it happened and I don't think Birol was upset by it. He knows the canvas is old and not in the best shape. If you really want to offer him a gift to relieve your guilt, you could buy him new canvas ;) :p :D .
