Title: highmeadow campground, hershey pa
Post by: cruiserpop on Aug 13, 2004, 07:31 PM
official, attached campground for hershey attractions and hersheypark . located just 1 light from hersheypark entrance off 250, second left after exit from 283. not well marked, need to watch for the small blue hershey signs, and the white and green hershey signs, surrounded by cornfields on both sides of the road. avarage accomodations. most are partial hookup/30 amp service backin or tent sites, not many levell, not many pullthroughs. price is right, especially for something so close to a major venue. registration/camp store/gameroom located in old amish barn. large outdoor pool adjacent. bathhouses clean and adaquate. ditto playgrounds. discount tickets available. and like all hershey properties, there is a a bowl of free hershey products everywhere...
hersheypark is our favorite mid-atlantic destination. less "attitude" than most major theme parks around d.c. more sedate and family friendly.

I've heard that the train that passes right by the park at all times of the day and night can be a real eye opener.  Did you find that to be the case?

yes, the freight line runs behind the campground. didn't seem to notice since both of us grew up near the tracks.
