How about in the spring, we get together for a spring fling and go whitewater rafting together in Wild West Virginia! There's the Cheat, New, and the Gauley rivers to choose from.
Let's not call it a rally, let's call it a partee! (A social gathering especially for pleasure or amusement. A group of people who have gathered to participate in an activity)

I wagon master an annual "Spring Fling" here in the mid-Atlantic also!! We hold this for the last 2 years on Easter Weekend, will probably be that again this year. I'm currently looking at COE campground on Buggs Island Lake for 2005...
Cliff, you can keep the thunder! ;) Rivers and thunder don't mix. Easter Sunday in 2005 is 3/27. I'm thinking around the end of April.

Easter is that early next year? Last couple of years it's been the first weekend in April. I may have to rethink the actual date. not sure who is even open before the first of April... Hmmmm...

An extended weekend is the early plan. This will allow for travel time and time to settle in camp.
This will be a slow float down the river on Saturday. In addition most river tours stop about 1/2 way and provide lunch.
FYI - I'm not thinking of a class V ride.

Cliff we go camping every Easter even when it is in March. Where is Buggs Island?
Buggs Island Lake straddles the NC - Va state line not too far from I-85... The campground I have in mind is North Bend Park, an Army COE campground located on the north-eastern end of the lake.

Hmmmm, they don't start charging for the campsite's until April, so easter would be free camping without hook-up's....

Most Definately!!! (The new house is only 1/2 hour from WV!) Just let me know. The only conflicts we have are with Spring Show Choir Season, which is generally over by early April.

Well, basically they are run by the same people, not just that it's a COE, but they are under the same COE regional office, so only makes sense! I do agree, it does look just like Goose Point, that's what has me interested in the place!
Also, so that we don't totally hijack WWQ's thread here, I'll probably put something together in it's own thread once I have some real information. Right now just don't have enough info to post yet...
