To all of you dear friends who have sent your condolences about my dad, so many I can t even remember you all - thank you soooooo much! Your kind words and thoughts carried me through one of the hardest weeks of my life.
Words fail me when I think of some of the things some of you have shared and the way you have been there for me. You were my lifeline to sanity!!!
I have a really great story to share with everyone - one that just gladdened our hearts and I hope will bring a smile to yours as well.....
Dad served this great country of ours in the US Navy for 4 years and then 26 years with the Army National Guard, until he had his first stroke. It was his wish to be interred at Ft. Snelling..... so that was the plan. Yesterday - at the funeral mass, we sang " On Eagles Wings" .... CJ and I slipped a copy of " Once An Eagle" in next to Dad and unbeknownst to us - my brother put his Fraternal Order of Eagles membership card into Dad s pocket. As we were driving from the church to Ft. Snelling, alongside the highway for every member of the funeral procession was the biggest bald eagle we d ever seen - just sitting in a tree - watching as we went by. I was so moved - that God would send a messenger to let us know that all was well - and my dad s spirit - now free from the prison that was his body - is soaring like an eagle.
Again, from CJ, me, Scout and the rest of our brood - our most heartfelt thanks!!!
MONSTER HUGS!!!!!

CJnRaeRae, Thanks so much for sharing the " Eagle" story with us. You and your family can take a lot of comfort in that. Is this a great group or what?
