Title: NNCs--Gather here and welcome g-whiz
Post by: gsm x2 on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
We gave her loads of suggestions, but she s an independant woman, so she made up her own mind.

So please welcome my friend and lover, g-whiz, to the forum.

gsm x2And could someone help us out.  We ve lost our calendar of NNC events.

We know the " Campout to Raise the Dead"  at Chabot is 1-17-03 to 1-19-03.  (actually we will arrive before dark on the 16th)

 But when are:

" Aloha at Olema"  in February
" The Gold Country Rally"  in Sacramento

And should we just HIGHJACK THIS TREAD for NNC news...instead of messing with the Campground reviews????

gsm x2Hello Cheese Whiz, I mean g-whiz, nice to see you have your own account.  What a pleasure to have a direct way of giving you a hard time rather than through a translator.

Looking forward to years of net-tertainment with you.

 Surfcal

BTW gsmx2, you can look up the schedule of the " movement"  by clicking on the website below my name.

gsm x2I don t think hijacking this thread would be in the right spirit of nnc.  I mean we got to give Dave a chance to do some deschnitzifying (I think I m the first person to use that word on the new board[8D])

gsm x2Welcome!  Now we can direct any deserved needling right at you, lol!

10 points for abbear!  Very nice use of a NNC term.

Also, deduct 10 points from Scott for forgetting our very own web site s calendar of events page, ha.

Btw, am I the only one who thinks these little faces are pretty cheesey looking?  They look like animation from Japan, ha.

Weren t you one of the people that thought the " thumbs up"  on the old board looked like a " one finger salute" ?

If not, please deduct 10 more points.

gsm x2I was wondering where all the NNCers went! We re all over the place.

Congrats on your own screen name " g-whiz" !

Scott, all you gotta do is go to the Nick-Neff-Cough website " Upcoming Events"  (or Upcomming Events ) to see our schedule. Hopefully it shows up in my signature.

Thank god we get to start the post counting all over! I got a feeling Surfcal and Neff are going to run the numbers up over me. [;)] Well it was nice being in second place while it lasted.

 gsm x2Hey Sactocampers:

What s amazing to me is that no one yet has entered a minivan issue.  Once someone enters in minivan questions or attacks minivans, you re just gonna blow right past us.  I know you.  Once someone shows a slight disrespect for those cars, the blood veins in your neck pop out, your lips purse and your fingers tremble.  Justg wait.

No, I won t defend minivans but rather support their use in appropriate situations. [:)]

BTW, my AWD minivan is a champ in the snow!! (and a good tow vehicle too! [8D])

Great to see the familar NCC names here.
and to have the link to our website posted for those who forgot to bookmark it.
(O.K. I only did it on 2 of the 3 computers I use to log on here).

G-whiz, welcome, and don t forget to post often.
I don t know if it s a good idea or not to get Margaret her own handle.
I mean she does help me with the number of postings.

No offense taken at all.  Although I will gladly accept your disclaimer and admittance for it not being your best work!  But...mine was indeed pretty Cheeeezy.  But at least you and I are coming up with some original stuff.

C mon everyone, we have to give our vintage California Whine a nice Nick-Neff-Cough welcome.  And where is Ab Diver anyway, and SCCS, and Champ521 and Forest Walker and tlhdoc and most of all, where is Nick?  Margaret, you have to get your own and reveal yourself.

gsm x2g-whiz!!  LOVE that screen name[;)] and  think it s great that you have joined the merriment here at PUT.

But I want to warn you NNC members--one of the complaints the former  members  loved  to make was that  there were " cliques"  on the board, and since you are posting " inside jokes"  and speaking in a furrin tongue (ah, that California air!)  you  should stop and rejoice that The  Whiners are gone and that the rest of us are taking notes and will soon join you in starting threads that are great fun to read and make no sense at all to anyone else!!  [;)]  (Isnt it bad enough that you get to camp most of the year and now we have to endure the details of all the fun you are having?)

Camp on, it keeps the rest of us amused until winter is over!

And I AM SO DELIGHTED to see how many creative and loyal California members we have with us on our new board--you guys are super, and if I ever can get my TM over the mountains between here and Cal, I WILL hunt you down and camp with you!![&:]

 gsm x2Elisa,

 Three words:

 June Road Trip! [:)]

Just think: You d get to see Baby Sacto in PERSON (what a treat! [8D]), you could swap TrailManor suggestion/tips with CivilWarBuff, you could go shopping with all the " girls"  (maybe even a little gambling?), and of course, GSMx2 will show you how we attract Raccoons to our campsites!

Quotethat the rest of us are taking notes and will soon join you in starting threads that are great fun to read and make no sense at all to anyone else!!

Elisa, I suppose I should concede the fact that most of the time they don t even make sense to us.[:D] Also, I ll drop you a little hint: some of our inside jokes can be revealed at our Nick-Neff-Cough website...particularly our " Camping Tips"  page.

 NightOwlMy Dear NightOwl,

You are always welcome (as is anyone) to be an honorary member (or even an extension member) of the NNC.  We are non exclusive by definition!!  Also, I agree with you about the California air...it makes Red Neff Barchetta really strange!!!!!!!I can t believe that ANYONE is that strange naturally (no matter what you have heard about California).

On another note, I want to ask you a personal question...(tongue in cheek though), but I have never seen a TrailManor that gets bigger when it is closed....so as your signature states, you have a 26 footer that grows to 30 feet when closed???[;)][;)][:@]  I am almost willing to bet that you really have 3026!![&:][:D]

Anyhow, Elisa, I always enjoy the nice things that you have to say about TM s and I think that you are one their biggest advocates...I love mine, it is everything you said it would be and more!!

OH, geeze, Larry--put it down to tooo much New Years celebration.[&:][8D][;)]  I ll tell you when that thing looks HUGE, though, and that is when I am camping alone and have to close it without any help.  I SWEAR it grows to about 50 feet.  And to top it all off, sometimes when I am alone  I have to get up and " dance"  on the rear roof section  to get the rear latch to  catch, no doubt to the great amusement of the neighbors. [;)]

I do have to say again how wonderful it is that we havent lost our NNC contingent.  I am now trying to figure out a way to get to the June Rally  (IN addition to getting to see Baby Sacto, I could always use use a little more  gold dust--should I bring my " pan" ?  Civil_War_BuffGood evening all.

G-whiz always says, " I know when you are on the boards because you re laughing."

Now I can tell when she s on the boards, she clicking here and clicking there trying to figure out how to get the mostest out of the boards.

Nightowl....I hope you can tell that we aren t cliqueish.....however, some of us have camped up to five times together....we truly are becoming a family.  I used to call Mrs. Sammyslave and G-whiz " sisters"  because they get together and laugh and laugh and laugh all the time.  At Cachuma I noticed that now Sammyslave and surfcal BOTH call them sisters too.

I guess we get both the closeness of the board and the camping experience.  What could be better than that???  Well, being able to camp (excuse the correction) ALL YEAR ROUND.

Come on Negative Bouyancy Rally!!!  Hey the 4.5 pounds of kazoos should be here on Monday.

gsm  x2, YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE LAUGHTER PART!!  Billy can always tell when I am on the board[:)] because he can hear me laughing (how bout the thread from Duck about Logan " Christening"  the bath tub--a perfect example[;)] of why there is so much chuckling going on.

One thing quite wonderful is the " feeling"  I see on the board now.  It is more like the PUT spirit of  our early days when the membership was small and people had " personal"  relationships and, except for some trolls and a few heated  disagreements, there was respect and affection and a great  desire to help and encourage and treat each other with  courtesy.  It is nice to see the openess we seem to feel free to express now that  the cynics have moved on.

It is easy to understand the ties developed by the NNC gang; a lot of us who camped  at the Tenn rally feel the same way and I think there were many close bonds established that week.[:D]

Civil_War_BuffWhat happened????  The NNC " Gather Here"  thread disappeared to page 2 because no one has posted in the since 11:00 a.m. this morning.  I ain t much one for rules yous no s, but ain t there some rule that says, " If you see any NNC thread that hasn t been officially closed moving toward the bottom of page one or hasn t been dribbled into for five hours, the next NNCer has to drip some dribble into the thread?

Least ways, I thought that was a rule, but I may be overruled, and it isn t a rule after all.

" Wow,"  as the piece of pine said, " am I inching toward becoming a ruler? I didn t think I would measure up."

NOTE: for those of you to young to know, they used to make rulers out of wood--the good ones then had a piece of stainless steel added to make a straight edge.  Brilliant move by the ruler makers, since although the stainless was perfectly straight in the store, within a week of purchase it would be a little dent, burr, or nick which ensured:

his truck is blue, with the Michigan symbol painted on it

your camp chairs are from the Michigan Stadium Club store

and that the only thing that he didn t like about the Coleman was that it had Michigan State GREEN on it, but at least it wasn t crimson and silver.

your children s names are Ann and Arbor

Did I miss any or get any wrong?

I have to admit I am a little suprised to see him rooting for OS. He seemed like enough of a Wolverine fan that his two favorite teams would be:

 Michigan

The team that was playing Ohio State

 Scott,
LOL! Your memory serves you well!  I guess when it was time to choose sides, dh went with the team he hated the least.  It was a tie, so I guess it had something to do with the Big Ten getting that new ESPN award. He tells me that this is the first time that he openly rooted for OSU, but don t let anyone know!  His blood runs Michigan blue.

Well the bad news is that my dad had s major stroke.  I leave for Oregon Sunday for a few days as we transition from hospital to therapy.  Things don t look very good, but he s already disproved the doctors a bit so only time will tell.

Sorry to hear the news about your dad, and I hope he shows those doctors a thing or two about recovery.  I ll keep your family in my prayers.

We had a " life altering--wake up and smell the roses--reality setting in"  experience yesterday
[/size].[/b]

We went into Borders to get a Neil Diamond CD for our trip to Chabot.

Scanned through, then dug through the POP/ROCK section.  " He s not under D s.  Not under N s. And not in with the CDs for people who don t have LABELS either."   So I resorted to getting on the computer and YES they have him.  G-whiz found him too in the EASY LISTENING section.  He was right there: with Bing Crosby, John Denver, Bo Diddley.

 How can that be?

HOT AUGUST NIGHT---in the EASY LISTENING section.

He was one of the hot singers when I was in high school, through college and beyond.  It s likely that I lost my v*******y with one of his LPs playing.

" Say it ain t so, Joe"

I need to take some Geratol so I can calm down.

Why didn t you warn me????  I was devastated all day yesterday, and it was only today that I could talk about it.

Next thing you know, The B**thole Surfers will be under easy listening.

BTW--if there is a worse name for a rock group, I would like to know what it is.  This creates a whole new image of what " in the tube" , " wiping out"  or " hanging ten"  means.  None a pretty image.

Chez WayOk, let s see if this thing works...

Howdy all, been outta state since Christmas, might have passed Nick on the road to Tucson as we were waaaaaay down at the south-east corner of Arizona (2500 miles round trip) to visit the in-laws. Just got home tonight, and this forum s slower than heck: I keep getting error messages, or it takes 2 minutes to load a page. Oh well, Steve will have everything ship-shape in no time. On to individual comments...

First and foremost:  Kiwi/Y-guy-  I sincerely hope all works out as best as can for your father. Having had a couple close calls with my own parents, I know what you are going through. You and your family are in our hearts and prayers.

g-whiz: Welcome to you as an individual member! (Does this mean we get to perform an operation on gsmx2 and turn him into a " gsmx1/2"  ??? [:D] )

Nightowl- I hope you are able to camp with us some day. I would really love to meet you (as would the rest of us NNCer s, I m sure).

Neal Diamond: He s only " easy listening"  cuz you can tell what words he s singing.[;)] Some of his best songs were not " easy music"  by any means.

Drive-through Arizona rant: What s with all those folks in Quartzite??? 200,000 RV s gathered in one spot, and not a single pop-up!!!

New NNC members: Welcome to each and every one of you!

 Pop-up Times:  Happy New year!!!

AND for my fellow NNCers that want to know...Snug Harbor is a whole 6 miles from Rio Vista, and when you cross the bridge into town, look immediately to your right and you wll see Dinuba RV, where my TM came from!!  It is only 6 miles from the campground, so maybe we can arrange a field trip to Dinuba RV for a " tour" !! You KNOW you want it!![8D][8D]

If I had known it was THAT close, I would have checked it out when I picked the trailer up last week, but I didn t find that out until this morning!

BTW, it was VERY foggy when I picked up the trailer (9am -ish), and they said it gets quite " breezy"  in the afternoons.

I " assume"  you mean the bridge into Rio Vista? Yes!  From the Bay Area, it will be over the Antioc Bridge, a smaller drawbridge, and the big drawbridge..then it looks like you will go over one more to get onto the island as well, but only the Antioc charges toll! For YOU though from " D"  town you will NOT have to cross the bridge, because you should be coming over Hwy  12 the other direction!!

My philosophy about communications is to keep it simple.  While a transcendant vocabulary is laudable, one must be careful to ensure that the calculated objective of the communication does not become ensconced in obscurity. Stated more simply, it is infinitely preferable to eschew obfuscation.

 Hybrid HollyHi Friends!

Well I hath returned from the land of grey skies, green trees and big rivers... yes Oregon.  I ve driven enough for a while please and thank you very much.  Lets see Stockton to Anaheim, Aneheim to Stockton, Stockton to Eugene, Eugene back to Stockton and soon it will be Stockton to Kennewick.  I ve already hit 3,000 on the truck!  I think its broken in now.  Oil change time.

I m ready to go camping guess I need to read throug the last 5 pages to see what s going on though huh, or can a buy a set of Cliff Notes?

My Dad is doing as well as one can be expected after a major stroke.  He s lost the use of his right side, speech and worse off he s an independent cuss and the thought of being cared for is drying him up the wall.  It was a very long week for me, though longer for him I m sure.

Well I need to spend some time around our new digs I guess and find where all the hidden passages are.
