anyone have any sightings of good fall colors?
here is nj/ny they don't seem as bright this year, green/yellow/brown and down
The colors been spotty around here. Some pockets are brilliant reds and golds the next stand can be just drab and brown. We aren't near peak yet here in the southeast corner of MI and it's raining, hoping it helps bring out a little more color for our camping next weekend.. The area we are probably headed is at about 50% right now.
Good sightings?? We are having GREAT sightings here. I work 46 miles from home so I get to see a lot of changing colors every day:D
The colors here in the Poconos are great!! They are at their "peak". I love the fall (my favorite season)...but of course it means winter is right around the corner. Nothing like the smell of fresh fallen fall leaves.

We had some really gorgeous orange and yellows last weekend camping with Kelly and The Edwards down at Forestville State Park in Minnesota.
They are running a "Fall Foliage" train in Williamsport, PA this weekend and we had planned on going on it yesterday. With the rain and wind yesterday we didn't go. I hope the wind didn't knock most of the leaves off of the trees. :)
We are leaving tomorrow morning for Cook Forest for a week and hoping the leaves will be nice, they have got a ways to go in Erie.

You should try it sometime, Beaver Meadows in the Alleghney National Forest near Marienville is a wonderful campground. It's close enough to Cook Forest to canoe and hike. Cook Forest is a wonderful area the trails are great, wonderful old growth forest, the campground is very busy most of the summer but will be really quiet this time of the year, we will probably be the only ones there most of the time (except the weekend). Hope they don't shut off the water (this includes the bathrooms!) they do that this time of the year if it gets too cold and they are afraid it will freeze, that has happened to us before. At least they keep the electric. It's pretty cold here tonight, we'll probably be snuggled under the electric blanket tomorrow at this time. We go to Beaver Meadows most of the time, it dosen't have electric and has pump water but we always go to Cook Forest this time of the year because it's cold and we want the electric. This is our last trip out this year.
Fall colors :D
Just got back from the upper part of Mi. about 90 miles from the bridge.
camped at Higgens Lake State Park(north) and the colors were great,reds,gold,yellow orange, and still some green. The weather tho sucked :mad: rain mixed with snow temps in the hight 30's to the low 40's with winds 30-40 mph with gusts to 60mph. Then the day we were leaving(mon) the sun came out the wind died down and the expected high was 50. all in all we had a good time.
the camp was some what empty. 4 5ers in one group a few TTs and 2 pop ups.
From what I understand, you won't get as pretty of colors if you've had a dry summer. Something about the leaves just die and fall off? Bear with me - heard this a couple of years ago from a TV weatherman and the first thing that goes with age is memory. ;)
With the summer we had, we should get some beautiful colors this fall here in Oklahoma. That is, if fall ever comes. It was in the high seventies yesterday - sheesh!
