What basic tools do you take with you in your popup? From the forum on the step stool, looks like a hammer is also needed to drive stakes for awning. A friend suggested a lug wrench which will fit your trailer s lug nuts (they may not be the same size as those on your tow vehicle). What else do you take with you? Thanks for sharing your insight.

RamblingWreckI ended up buying one of those 100+ tool kits with carrying case. It has screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches, allen wrenches, hammer, pliers, etc. Both SAE and metric too. It wasn t very expensive, and I don t have to worry about what tools I need to carry with me.
Just grab it and go. Also, it fits under the seat perfectly.[:)]
RamblingWreckConsiderring my last job I was a contractor of sorts...I had all my tools with me (even a portable band saw for cutting firewood). A good socket set, screw driver set (philips and flat head), duct tape, drill, etc would all be good in case of some sort of emergency, along with electrical tape, and 12 cord (a waxy twine I use to extend the ropes for the awning when they cann t reach far enough out to stake down). I also keep a 2 ton hydrolic garage jack (the type on wheels) in the truck for both the TV and the camper. I never really did trust the ones that come with the vehicles.
RamblingWreckOld claw hammer (used mainly for driving and pulling ground stakes), hatchet, screwdriver w/interchangable tips, 6" common pliers, 8" adjustable wrench. That s covered all my needs for a long time now.

-Check to see if TV jack will fit/lift trailer.
-Tire gauge.
-Tarps.
RamblingWreckWhere do i start. My DW complaians all the time about the stuff i carry in the van. But it s a big van. I carry everything from a 110 arc welder to battery operated sawzall, Cordlees screwdrivers and cordless drills. A large tool box with a lot af hand tools . I know this may seem like i am nut s ,But we only paid ffity dollars for the camper and i gutted it. And we have only taken it camping twice last year. So i wanted to be prepared for anything. As time goes on i will not carry as much equipment for repairs. But i thought untill then . I will carry it. I usally carry this stuff in the van anyway.

It has been my experience that your lug wrench that comes with your tow vehicle will not fit the popup. Bought one of those 4-way lug wrenches.
How about one of those canvas and screen repair kits.

RamblingWreckIf you have a Coleman check to see if you can remove your spare tire with your lug nut wrench. On some of the Coleman s the lug nuts are recessed and you can t get at them with a standard socket. I had to get a deep socket to reach the lug nuts.[&:]

RamblingWreckOne thing I haven t seen listed that we can t do without is zip ties. We use them to secure the latches when towing -- too many horror stories of roofs flying off down the highway! We also use them to secure our lights to the awning (mine are not tacky!!!). There s been so many things we use them for. You can even strap your kids to a tree if necessary! [:@]
We camped recently with friends and the husband had his electrician s tools in his truck (they drove separate vehicles). During the campout, we needed some tool neither of the other two men had, and something you d never think you needed. He said everytime they camp he gets teased about having his tool belt hanging from a tree, but somebody always needs something out of it.
