Title: replacing pulley system on 74 stardust swinger
Post by: ed23 on Feb 28, 2005, 04:47 PM
Help!

I'm considering taking this project on.  I have priced the cables and pulleys for the ordeal.  I wanted to see if anyone has replaced the whole system and what i may be getting into.  How long did it take to replace?

Hmmm, I had a 74 Stardust Swinger!!

And I replaced cable in it too, and replaced a pulley in my 78 Starmaster-8 as well. Neither job is all that difficult, the cables are simple to do, but the pulley will be welded into place, but I think the replacement piece uses pop rivets...

I did some of them on our '73 Swinger 6....wasn't hard...knocked out the rivets for the crappy plastic pulleys and went to the hardware store and got brass/steel pulleys and cable...put new bolts in through the pulleys and away I went....not hard, more time consuming...

Good luck!!!
