Post by: griffsmom on Apr 25, 2005, 10:43 PM
Oh No! Something else I absolutely (of course) must have for dry camping!

That would work great for those of us who don't have hot water heaters, too!!  Some of us still camp like we have a tent  ;)

I'm looking into that one!

Thanks, Lori ...

Whad do you mean for dry camping?  Everything still works when you dry camp.  Hot water heater runs on propane.  The only item you may not be able to use all the time is the DVD player/TV.  We even run the portable heater sometimes.  Come on Lori, you guys can dry camp.  I know you can!!

We actually did go dry camping at San Mateo earlier this month, but we didn't fill the water tank.  That's why I was thinking something like this would make dishes easier if we decided not to fill the water tank, espefcially since it looks like it folds up pretty easily and compactly.

Hey Moose--nice job on the sink!  You are a master with PVC!

We also found, dry camping along the coast and places where it gets cold at night, we needed a heater that did not use our camper's battery (the fan in the propane heater can run it down fast).

So, we found the Mr. Heater Buddy - it has an oxygen sensor so it is rated for indoor use (will shut down if air gets stale), and you can attach a hose (we have a 12 foot that snakes out any gap in the camper) to an external propane tank... or use it a tiny disposable 1-lb tank on it.  We figure it will give about 100 hours on a 20-lb propane tank, since it does 5 hours on 1 lb... and our Niagara has twin tanks -- one for the camper and the spare can be used for the heater :)

Funny you should ask. I should have listened to you in the beginning... "You're taking way too much stuff"... so, all of my camping stuff is in the middle of my living room and I'm removing stuff I don't need. What a mess!
