Title: Rutland Rainbow Firesticks
Post by: Starcraft Dad on Jun 09, 2005, 01:05 PM
I know you campers out there are always trying to find ways to make a pretty campfire. Some try the copper and hose trick but we like to use these. No fuss and very easy to use. They make beautiful green and blue flames.

We once camped next to a man who showed us the copper pipe and hose trick.  It made for a gorgeous fire, but I couldn'' get past what kind of cancerous fumes we might be breathing in to try it ourselves.  Heck, you're not even supposed to drink water from the garden hose anymore due to the materials they're made with!!! :yikes:

Thanks for the link.  I know my little one will love all the pretty colors we can now safely have in our campfire. :)

Burning copper is a neat way of making a fire glow funny colors. The NAFSN actually recommends an RDA OF .9 mil. of copper in our diets. Although inhailing it is probably not the right way to get it. Even though copper is touted for its antibacterial properties(thats one reason why its used in plumbing) the other chemicals used to make tubing malable can't be good to breathe.
