Title: help, i cant get my coleman camper down

i just got a coleman williamsburg 1985 from a friend,
i got the camper up just fine with the crank. The problem is that i can't get it back down, the crank won't turn counterclockwise. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

On our '87 Coleman we have to release the saftey wire by tge crank arm and move a catch away from the crank arm to let it down.
