Title: 1994 Dutchmen 1203 advice?
Post by: murphyce on Aug 16, 2005, 12:00 PM
I posted yesterday looking for any advice on a 1994 Flagstaff I was looking at on ebay. I decided to let that one go and look at a local 1994 Dutchmen 1203 instead. Feel more comfortable getting to look it over before buying. So, as my other post said, I'm new to all of this and know some obvious things to look for (water damage, mold, mildew, torn canvas, lift system), but wonder what else I should be looking for. Also, if anyone has any experience (good or bad) with this particular model, I'd be interested to hear what you have to say.

Thanks

I don't know to much about Dutchmen campers other than that they have not built pop ups in a few years now. If it is in good shape and you like the layout of it and the price, go for it. The only trouble I have heard a lot about with them is that some owners  have had problems with water damage to the roof  (rot), otherwise the problems have been similar to the other brands out there.

I have a 1995 1203 Dutchman.  I haven't had any problems so to speak. I did have to replace the roof after I first got it because they didn't put any support beams inside, so they just went ahead and replaced the roof.  I did have to replace the crank and cable (broke).
Other then that....no problems with rotting, leaking, etc.  I've taken very good care of my popup.

I wouldn't touch it if doesn't have a replacment roof. When I visited the Dutchmen factory in 1999 they told me that the 94 & 95 were their worst model years. They had to replace almost every roof they sold for those years because of design errors. It was a crummy factory too, I've only seen one worse.
