Hi! Did we mess up, we're not sure. We had a very hard time adjusting the sway bar to get it back on. When we were shown how to do it all it needed was a twist and then when we had to put it back on we needed an assortment of tools to adjust it again.
We read the bar itself and it mentioned not backing up with the sway bar on, is this right? Do you unattach it when you back up?

Generally, it's best to remove it for backing and for sharp turns. Some will damage the tow vehicle, hitch, or A-frame (but will more likely just the sway bar would be damaged itself) by coming onto contact with something else, or by being pulled completely apart (depending on which way you're turning).
If there is no visible damage (dents or dings) then it's probably not damaged by backing with it attached.
