My daughter's small private school is celebrating their 50th anniversary, which is no small accomplishment for any private school. To celebrate, they're doing some unique things involving the number 50. That's where you come in!
There is a race on to see which class can collect postcards from all 50 states first. They must be addressed to either the child or the school. My daughter's class is the senior-most class (6th grade) and it would be great if they could win this! If you would like to be a part of this, send any postcard commemorating anything from your state to the address below. You can include a personal note if you'd like to either the students of the school/class or your fellow PUT camper, my daughter Emily.

Time is of the essence. Thank you in advance for your help!
I'll send one today from Tennessee.
Tell Miss Emily to look for one from Arkansas!
Do they have to mailed from the state the postcard describes. In other words could I send a post card about PA from FL? My son used to collect postcards from different states. He no longer has an interest in them. Would it be okay to send a few of those, they would be postmarked from FL.

They're looking for them to be postmarked from where the postcard is from. Thanks for the thought though! But we'd love one from Sunny Florida! My daughter did a report on manatees last year, so maybe one with manatees on it!
I will send one off today from AZ. Good Luck Emily.

I found one with Manatees!:D
I will drop it in the mail.
Hope it makes it in time.
My daughter reported today she got one from Tennessee and Arizona (or maybe Utah, she couldn't remember). Thank you so much everyone, and the rest of you, keep them coming!

Mailed one from Minnesota this morning.
Keep us updated ~ my little girls think this is the coolest thing and want to know how many Emily's class gets!
Idaho and Wyoming are on the way (DW and I are heading over to Jackson for lunch today) and my mother-in-law will get one out from Ohio as well.
GL,
Sending one from Pennsylvania & New Jersey today....
Good Luck! :p
well I think I can do the big apple! New York City, since thats where I live, and if no one claims New Jeresy I can do that one too! Thats where our camper is!
I sent one from the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.
You guys are the best. I'll ask her teacher Tuesday if I can take a look at what they've gotten that are addressed to her and let you know.
One from Delaware mailed last week, should be coming soon, if not there already.
My mother-in-law is sending you Ohio (where she lives) and Michigan (about 15 mins away. She and my FIL take regular trips to buy lotto tickets and such.
Good Luck- THat is 4 from us, don't know anyone else to ask :(
My daughter came home yesterday and said over the weekend the school got a lot of cards addressed to her, and her teacher told her this was supposed to be a class project, not an "Emily project." She explained we belong to a camping club and we camp with people from all over California, and that on the website we have friends from all over the country and they're sending the cards. I thought that was pretty cute. She evidently has collected the most for her class, although a few other kids have brought in a few.
So again, thank you! And if you don't see your state spoken for yet, send her a card!
Watch for one from Montana ... my sister is should be sending one ...
I sent one from Indiana today. I hope it isn't too late. I could not find one around this small town that I live in. I took a 256 mile ride on my scooter through the southern part of the state Friday and stopped at marengo cave and got one.

It's not too late at all. I'll ask tomorrow what they're up to. I know they do have some duplicates, but of course they're for vacation states for west coasters, like Hawaii and Nevada. I don't think they had any from Indiana yet. I'll see if I can find out what's missing and post it so maybe someone can fill in that gap.
THANK YOU ALL!
Better late than never -- one from Virginia will go into the mail tomorrow morning.
This sounds like a cool project, I wish I could work something like this into kindergarten!

I will send one from Ohio and have my mom send one from West Virginia. I will get them in the mail in a few days.
I'm a teacher. I'll send one from GA.

You could very easily. You put up a map of the US and tell them you'd like to get a postmark form every state, and when you do get a state, you put a star into the state. That way they'll learn geography too.
I found out it doesn't have to necessarily be a postcard (which is what my daughter that at first) but as long as the postmark is from the state it counts. And, some of the postcards have come in with postmarks from states other than the state the postcard is advertising. Weird! But nonetheless, the kids are enjoying checking the mail everyday and looking at the postcards.
Friday the kids wore/displayed something of 50 quantity on their shirts. Some kids had 50 pennies glued to their shirts, others had 50 pictures of their classmates over the years pinned to their shirts, some had baseball cards, little girls had 50 foam hearts glued to the shirts. It was very cute to see what ideas the kids came up with to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Stuff like that is going on all year. Their group picture this year had them standing in the shape of "50" on the playground and was taken from the roof of the school. I bet that was hard to organize!
trina I'm assuming Ca is covered let me know if it hasn't been.
what a fun project...Good luck Emily!!!

Yes, you assumed right! Even a postmark is good from a state, but the postcards add some pizzazz to their experience, so it's preferred.
Hey there.. you never told us how the project ended up?
Did they get all 50?

My daughter is still checking all postmarks when I get mail. I told her yesterday to give me a list of what they're missing and I could specifically put out a call for those states. As of yet, no winner has been announced, but I know she said the 1st grade class is missing only three states!
I have a list of what my daughter's class is missing. I could have sworn some of these were sent already, but here they are. If you are from any of the following states and would like to help, just simply send a note, an empty enevelope, anything that will give them your postmark to the address I stated at the beginning of this thread. Thanks in advance!
