An ice cold mitsu apple is my favourite. I was actually telling dh the other nite that it is time to make our annual trek to the 'Apple Bin' a local place that sells fresh picked apples by the bushel.

Fall is my favorite time of year.  I look forward to October when the Northern California u-pick apple farms (Apple Hill) are open and ready for business.  My parents went the third weekend of September and the apples weren't ready yet.  I was so dissapointed.  Hopefully, I can get the kids out there in a few weeks to try again.  There is nothing like an apple fresh from the tree.

I knew I'd forget something good, which is why I always include an "other" category.

Yep, that hard cider is good stuff, even though I don't drink it often.  Since it has become near impossible to get unpasturized cider (my favorite, when aged a bit on the back porch), Apple Jack is next.

We are also partial to Alpenglow sparkling cider, which is non-alcoholic, but soooo good icy cold on a hot day.

ME :p   I'm going to miss picking this year. Taking the cheap way out and getting my bushels from a farm market as opposed to spending on almost half a tank of gas to get to and from our favorite orchard...that would make those apples worth their weight in gold!

For us it's fresh sauce as the #1 use, cannot imagine eating store bought sauce. Then it's pie and fritters....off to the farmers market this weekend.
