Title: Has anyone noticed..
Post by: AustinBoston on Oct 26, 2005, 08:05 PM
...the gas prices?  $2.16/gallon regular!  Just a few months ago, I wouldn't have thought I'd ever see that price again!

I'm moving.  I was excited to see it drop all the way down to $2.539 here.  Apparently, I need to print this thread and send it to the idiots who run this state.

Well, on the left coast I paid 2.72 gallon last night. The cheapest I've seen recently was 2.69 gal. And now we think that's cheap.

Post by: dirtfisher on Oct 27, 2005, 08:27 AM
We have a couple of stations that are having a gas war.  Don't know how long it will go on but it is down to  :yikes: $2.049 at the cheapest one.  Happy Camping.....

Like Moose, we are on the left coast, but he is in So. CA and we are in No. CA and I paid $2.68 on Monday and Tuesday it was down to $2.63.   Makes you want to kick youself because I didn't wait one more day, but I was already running on fumes so didn't have a choice.   Hope this downward trend keeps up.

The low gas prices are probably a response to the record profits recently posted by the oil companies.

It's just a matter of time before the subpoenas are issued and oil executives are called on the carpet.

We can only hope!  The really stupid thing is that diesel has always been cheaper than gasoline.  It went up this time right along with gas, but has stayed up there!  Here in So. Cal. regular gas is running about $2.69-2.79, but diesel is still about $3.39!  Diesel is basically the byproduct of processing gasoline, so why is it so high!  If the truckers of this country went on strike to protest the high prices, we'd all be in trouble, so I don't understand why the government hasn't forced at least this fuel price to stabilize at a reasonable rate.

Until I read this thread.

Thanks :(

It has been 2.199 here for a week.  Columbus Day weekend I paid 2.899 in New York state and it was 2.79 at home that weekend.  It sure has come down.  I guess it is my carpooling that has saved so much gas that the prices had to come down.:eyecrazy:

Has anyone noticed that with the high price of gas that there has not been any oil spills, makes one wonder if the tankers are more carefull now that the price of oil is up from last year :eyecrazy:

DH paid .26 cents the other day :yikes:  it was an error when they changed the price at the pump they did it wrong. He went in and told them about and offered to pay the difference but they let him have at 26 cents. Darn why couldn't he of had my Expy instead of his civic ;)   avg here is $2.69
I wish the Gov. would do something Do the oil companies have to make a kazillion dollars in profit??? I think they would survive just fine on half that..

gas will stay low and my go up a bit the weekend before thanksgiving, then back down, then up before xmas, and then starting in April it will continue to sneak up until summertime

I paid $2.69 yesterday. In Vegas last weekend, I paid $2.49. Is it wrong to be excited about $2.49 per gallon? Who would have thought it. Like the other day I was driving around my town and I saw a sign for a new home builder that said "Homes Starting in the $300's", And I thought wow, that is cheap! What am I thinking! In 1972 my parents paid $23,000 for our house. My first house was $57,500. Why in the @#$% am I getting excited about spending over 300K on a house!!!!!! When will it end?

Also, given our SCCampers Campland trip is on Veterans Day, I'm sure something will happen to make the gas jump for that weekend.

It would be here ~ $2.159 on the way to work today   :D

It wasn't that long ago that paying anywhere near $2.00/gallon was a shock to the system ~ now we're happy to pay that!   Go figure.

I know what you mean about houses too ....  my parents built theirs in 1967 and paid it off in 1997.  My siblings and I gave them a lot of grief about all the extra money they'd have now that they didn't have a mortgage.  Turned out to be $95.00/month!!!!   It's all relative, eh?

Funny how the prices are dropping after reports of record profits for the oil companies into the BILLIONS!. Seems we were all taken for a ride on the excuse of hurricane damage etc.

That's the plan, Kelly.  A temporary surge in prices raises the floor it doesn't have to go below.

Just wait till you see your first natural gas bill of the winter.

We're still hovering in the $2.40's.  We always seem to be higher than the rest of the world.

On an related note, for lack of anything better to do, I'm watching the movie "The Wild Angels" with Peter Fonda and Nancy Sinatra, made in 1966.  In one of the early scenes, a group of motorcyclists drove by a gas station.  The price posted out front?  28.9 CENTS!!!  That was like driving for free.  Imagine that.  My $40 fillup cost $4.91 back then.  Anyone wanna go back to "The Good Ole Days"?

I wasn't old enough to work then.

Also no computers.  No CD's.  No DVD's.  No DVR.  Why is D such a popular letter?  Might be a good question for that other thread.  There were PUP's  though.

We are still in the $2.50 range here.  Unless of course it is a gas station in the outlying areas where their gas must be a better grade and command over $3.00.

Dang, that didn't last long.  :swear:

Yesterday it was down to $2.07.  Tonight it's back up to $2.21.

I'm sure we'll soon be back up in the $2.50 range or higher.
