I have recently experienced an unexpected problem with the roof on my 2004 GTE Nigara! It isn't going up....until January! ;)
Ever since I first purchased my shiny new PU in June of 2004 I have been camping at least twice a month, every month, (except December - too much holiday stuff)!
Now due to time limitations, and the upcoming holiday season, I don't foresee a camping trip until January!
My roof just won't go up....until then!
What happens when you turn the crank?
If you are the original owner your lift system is under warranty, so I would take it to your dealer and have them fix it.:)

Hmmm? If I turn the crank the roof goes right up. Like normal. Everything works just fine!
The "problem" is that I can't lift the roof to go camping, until next January.
:p
Ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I understand now. I am a little slow sometimes.:)
You are lucky you can fix your "problem" that soon. I will not be able to put my roof up till March.
Same problem here Beacher. I took a job in retail and all my weekends are over till after the first of the year. We haven't been out in the camper since the Poppin in Pismo ralley the end of June. Our poor popup is starting to look like a "shelf" in the garage. It has all the camping gear and all the Christmas presents sitting on top of it. Poor thing.

I won't be putting my roof up before April, if then (more likely May). We have this little thing called winter here in Minnesota, and snow that lands in December will generally still be with us at the start of May.

Yeah...like Chicago, you Minnesotans have TWO seasons:
1. Winter
2. Fourth of July

That's just mean! I'm sending you a warm beer for that one! :p
My poor PU is all tucked in the garage. I'll probably be a little behind, AB. She doesn't usually come out til Memorial Day. Now is the time for planning next year's trips ... so far we're working on ~
- Northern Minnesota in June (at my parents' new seasonal)
- Mount Rushmore/Black Hills with my sister from MT (and maybe TLHDOC) in July
- Door County or someplace else with my Camping Family
- a weekend in ND (we need the sticker! LOL)
- and other weekend trips
Our season may be short, but we can still get a lot of camping in! :D
I'm taking mine south over Christmas in the hopes that my roof will go up and maybe have that problem resolved...
Just returned recently from a week of camping at Clarkco State Park (just south of Meridian, MS). The weather was perfect temps: Daytime 65/70 and nighttime 40/50 degrees. The park is hilly and the leaves on the hardwood trees were turning colors. The lake was as smooth as glass. Hiking trail was not open this time due to hurricane destruction. It was like being in the mountains without having to drive very far. Only problem was that we wanted to stay for another week.
I have winterized twice this fall and I am probably done for the year, but we may go out Thanksgiving weekend if it is nice out. Then April for Easter. It will be a long winter. :yikes:
Woo-Hooo!!!
I "fixed" my roof this weekend! An unplanned, unscheduled trip to KOA in San Diego this past weekend! We "camped" for two nights.
The kids wanted to go to Sea World in SanDiego, and I really wanted to "fix" my roof. A win-win situation! :D
This is a great time of year to hit the woods for camping in Missouri.
I love to go tent camping in the cold weather and snow. (usually solo without the family)
Planning a couple of day in January to head over to Pere Marquette SP in IL. Do some eagle watching, and a grand fire, keeping it simple. Any takers in the St. Louis area?
Ha-ha funny thing here in Fl. Our PU stay down all summer (too hot and buggy) but love the cool weather in the winters.
Sorry, snowbirds
Can't wait till our next trip Dec. 27- Jan. 01 Highland Hammocks,
Mike
