I am new to this site and want to say hello to you all. I have been lurking around the past year and have read many great posts.
After all is said and done, we just put a deposit down on a used pop-up, a 1996 Dutchman 747. (that is what the dealer is saying it is)
Only thing is I can't find this model anywhere. Hope fully someone here can help. Here is what I know about it.
Unit is 14' long (including the front storage)
The box is 12'.
There is an awning, spare tire, stove, refer, sink, roof vent, 2 20#LP tanks, portable water tank and it has a dinette.
If anyone know anything I would greatly appreciate it.
I am trying to get more info on it before I "sign and drive away".
Thanks in advance,
Welcome to PUT. :) Sorry I don't know anything about the trailer.

Based on the 12' box ~ the only models listed in 1996 would be a M-1202, M-1203 or M-1204. I found pictures of all three of them ~ none of them had a front storage trunk.
Is the dealer sure on the year/model? I also did a search just within NADA on 747 and found nothing. No RVs with 747 in the name ....
I'm stumped.
Let us know if you find anything ...
Boeing....I guess I asked for that one...
Kelly,
I am going there today and will be asking some questions. Maybe thay have the year wrong. I am possitive it is a Dutchman 12' box with storage.
I'll let you know.

Kelly,
I found out that Dutchman started making the 747 in 1997 and had it for a few years. I did find it at
//www.nada.com also.
I looked at this pup and am glad to announce, we are now owners of this camper. It was in great shape, and the price just couldn't be beat. Something the wife and I did not want to pass on. We will be out at the campgrounds with it throught the season.....
We are very excited and can't wait. (I wonder if the neighbors would look at us funny if we camped in it while in our driveway before the campgrounds opened)
I hope the next 4 months go quick.
Congratulations!! I hope the next 4 months go by fast, too!
I have to say I'm not impressed by the search feature at nada ~ I'm guessing others weren't either. I couldn't find it this time! LOL
Ah well ~ all's well that ends well. Right?[/FONT]

Congratulations on your "new" purchase.
What does it matter what the neighbors think. Backyard and driveway camping happens all the time. Many use their campers as a spare bedroom when guests arrive, particularly guests with appropriately aged children. Putting the kids in the camper makes for an adventure for the kids and more room in the house for the adults. We've camped in the backyard, trying various systems of heating the camper before venturing out where we didn't have our own beds as backup. Glad we did it that way. It's your camper, have fun with it!
Congratulations on the camper! Go ahead and camp in the driveway or yard. I think many of us have done that.:)
Thanks everyone. Now that we actually HAVE a camper, I am sure there will be many questions that come along with owning one....Here is the first:
The refridgerator is one that can run on LP and electric. A manual did not come with it. I was going to get the make & model number to do a search but could see it. (It was a little too dark also) Does anyone use theirs or is the packing a cooler easier? It not like it has room for lots to go inside. Any insights would be great. Also, anything I need to know before I fire it up????
Thanks.
It will probably be a Domestic or Norcold fridge. Yes people use them, but they are not like you home fridge. It takes some playing around with one to get the hang of it. If it is hot you need to set it too a cooler setting, if it is cool out you will need to turn the temperature down or you will freeze stuff in the refrig. They can have problems with cooling, but no point in worrying unless you have a problem. Use the refrigerator and see how you like it. One thing to note. There isn't a compressor so you will not hear anything when it is running.:)
We use ours on every trip . I am actually amazed at how much that we can pack in that little thing. Our fridge is easy to access while the top is down. I don't know about yours. That seems to be a determining factor to whether a lot of people use there's or not.
I agree, they take a little getting used to. One thing to remember, plug it into electric about a day before you leave to cool the box down. Remember to shut the electric switch off when you switch over to propane :D .
