Title: I'm a happy guy...
Post by: AustinBoston on Mar 22, 2006, 12:06 PM
After years of steady declines :swear: brought on by economic conditions :eyecrazy: , relocation, and letting my skills get a tad rusty :banghead:, I got my first raise in four years today.

That combined with another very generous tax refund :U (thank you to those of you who DO pay income tax), I'm one happy guy.

Congratulations on the raise.  I have gone 3 years and 8 months without a raise, so I know how you feel.  I was supposed to get a 21 cent raise in January, but I am still waiting.  I will believe it when I see it in my paycheck.:)

We can relate. My Dh was "downsized" out of 2 jobs in 3 yrs. Finally found a job he likes but it's at half the salary he once made. He's very thankful to have a job, and a job he enjoys, but it's tough with one in college and another about to begin. What really hurts is having used up our savings during those tough yrs... it's scary not to have that backup... as for college financial aid, we'd be better off if he were out of work NOW but I wouldn't wish for that again.

Congrats, AB!!!  Glad to hear your good news!

I was unemployed since August, so when I finally got a job in January, I guess that could be considered getting a raise.  :)  I'm currently working as an independent contractor and am hoping I can negotiate it into a permanent position by June or July.
