Title: Canvas Types
Post by: Camp Dog on Mar 31, 2006, 12:22 PM
My wife has finally talked me out of camping in the tent. We are looking at getting a Pop-up.  We have been looking for a little while.  I have noticed a difference in the type of canvas' used.   Is one type of canvas better than the others?  or does it matter which brand it is?

Think you will find that watever brand your looking at will claim to have the best on the market! (LOL)

I really like the Sunbrella tenting on my PU.  It is lightweight, breaths and is water proof.  You don't get as much condensation as you will get in a non-breathable tenting material.:)

I have the vinolon (the other kind).  All in all, I figure it is six of one and half dozen of the other...  I'm sure others will be more than happy to disagree...

We have a Starcraft which has "Aqualon" tenting. It does a fine job of keeping us warm and dry up here in the mountains. It seems to beath OK -- not trap enough moisture inside for it to snow! (That happened to us in a cheap tent once).
Outside is easy enough to clean as well. I'm pleased.
