Title: Ceiling Rivits Starting to Fail
Post by: Eorb on Apr 03, 2006, 02:04 PM
On my 2003 Coleman Utah (just purchased) the rivits that hold the shepard's pole for the slide out are starting to get very loose.  I am wondering how to repair them if they come all the way out.  My assumptions is that pop rivits won't work, because the hole will be warbled out.  Also don't want to have to completely disassemble the roof to put a backer plate in, for two reasons.  It looks hard to do, and I wouldn't have a clue how to do it!  Any ideas out there?  Thanks

I would start with the next larger pop-rivit 1/8 to 3/16 or 3/16 to1/4. Drill a new hole the right size pop away. Pop rivits also come with a washer that you can use if you can get to both sides.

You could try filling the hole with glue (Gorilla Glue) and then drilling a new hole in the glue to re-rivet it.  If you don't want to try that than maybe a screw would work.:)
