Title: Rain may not stop a trip, but tornadoes will
Post by: cyclone on Apr 07, 2006, 09:22 PM
I am supposed to be camping right now - darned weather!  We decided the forecast was just too risky to head out today.  We still plan on going tomorrow.  It's a TPUC gathering and less than an hour from home.  So, I figured if we didn't go the storms would probably be much lighter than predicted.  Wrong.  Those suckers were spawning tornadoes all over the place; one touched down not far from the state park we plan on camping at.  Another touched down on the north side of Nashville and did considerable damage with two deaths reported.  The hotel I work in evacuated in mid-afternoon to a safer location in the adjoining convention center.  We had at least 4 families already camping; no one has checked in yet, so I hope they are ok.  I hope it's all over now, but I think we are under a watch for a few more hours.  Whew!

Good to hear you weren't out in that nasty crap. Hope it's a better day today for all of you in TN. One night is better than no nights camping.

Jan, glad to hear from you. I was wondering how you all faired. That looks like, once again, another round of bad weather. Looks like you made the right decision. Had you gone camping and messed up the camper, it would have ruined the many other trips you have planned for the season!
