My wife and I just purchased a new Viking 2308ST. We pick it up in a few weeks!!
As a first time PU buyer I've been experiencing information overload as I try to prepare myself. I'm greatful for this message board as I have learned a lot just browsing through the many different post.
My question: Can someone explain the basic concept of how the electric trailer brakes work? Also, what about maintenance? How often do these need to be serviced? Is there a typical life expectency or mileage before servicing?
Thanks,

Dexter makes the axles and brakes on most popups. They should have your answer here.
You should also get a thick manual from them with your trailer that has a lot of info as well.
Hope this helps.

Abbear Thanks,
Wow, lots of info on the Dexter site. I think this will be a great resource. I see they are in-fact the makers of the E-Z-Lube Axle that comes standard on the Viking PU.
Thanks Again.
You also need to know about brake controllers. I'll post more later, but rule 1 is...stay away from timer-based controllers. They are nothing but nuisance that you will never be happy with.

Thanks, from everything that I 've read I'll be going with the Prodigy. The DrawTite Intella Stop Ultra is the Prodigy re-branded and my local Master Hitch will install it.
