Title: phono plug connections
Post by: tknick on Apr 22, 2006, 12:22 PM
I recently purchased two fans that I need to add the phono plugs to so they will work in the existing light fixtures at the bunkends of the PU.  I purchased the plugs from radio shack, but when I opened them up I found three connections inside the plug (presumably left and right channels and ground).  Anyone know which ones to use for the fan hook up?  There are six possibilities and I rather not figure it out by trial and error if I can help it.  I also don't want the fan spinning backwards! :(

any help would be appreciated

return the stereo plugs and buy monoral. Only two contacts. center contact is hot.

If returning the plugs is a bother, the hot is the tip, the ground is the sleeve.  The ring isn't used.

Radio Shack is a bit of a drive and I threw the reciept away just after I posted the message. I'll make do with what I've got.  Thanks for the answer!
