Who leaves their water pump on? I will be mostly dry camping so I am assuming that I should turn it on and off as needed. How much power will it pull from my battery?
I leave it on as it doesn't use any power unless it loses pressure due to use or loss of pressure. I just have to remember to turn it off before popping down.

We leave the pump off when we are not around the camper. When we are around sometimes it's on other times it's off. nothing we're consistant about.
If you are dry camping you can leave it on, but as previously mentioned, I would recommend turning it off when you aren't around. The system will eventually loose pressure causing the pump to cycle on an off (wasting electricity). If you aren't around, there's no reason to run the pump and re-build the pressure. The same holds true for night time. Without fail, you would be sound asleep and the pump would cycle on when there's no need and wasting more electricity....

Your pump will not cycle on/off unless you have a pressure / water leak in your system somewhere (ie. leaky faucet, H/W leak). We leave our pump always on and it will not cycle until there is a demand for water.

While this is correct (will not cycle without a demand for water) I still suggest turning it off if you are not going to be around. All it takes is a water line breaking for the pump to move 20 gallons of water from the tank to the floor of your pop up. Not a pretty site.

I second what Tim said about a line breaking. I also like to keep the pump off when we are not around camp because I often leave the outside shower door open. I wouldn't want someone to turn the water on outside and have the pump run dry. :)
