It's funny that you should bring that up right now. My wife and I are currently designing our own check lists. I say "list
s" because we have realized that we need one for getting the trailer ready and hooking it up for towing. Another list for "popping-up" and another list for popping down and getting ready for towing home.
Our first list would include making sure that the essentials are there for each trip IE: fill propane tanks, plug in the camper and turn on fridge, charge batteries, check pressure in tires, porta-potty, generator (and gas), inverter, battery charger, drill and adapter, hand crank, awning mat, Ball leveler, tool kit, firewood etc.
You see.......we are in our (early) 60s and lists like this are becoming essential. We find that every campout, we forget something different. This time we forgot our awning mat and it made beach camping a little less enjoyable :D . Last time, I forgot my drill motor and had to crank-up by hand (I have a bad shoulder) :( . One time, we forgot to fill our water tank when we got to the campground and had to carry jugs of water to fill the tanks (we also forgot our collapsible hand truck) :eyecrazy: .
As we design our list
s we realize that our lists would not be the same as anyone else's lists. In fact, they may not even be helpful to any other individual camper. Check lists are very individualistic things when it comes to PU camping. Flight checklists might be the same for all airplanes of a certain model but when it comes to camping, no 2 will be even similar. If you would like, you can PM me and I will send you a copy of our lists via a Word document attachment in your email. I doubt it will help, but it may give you some ideas for making your own.
HI Wayne
Anything you have would be great. My email address is agg@shaw.ca

Al ~
Here (http://arveeclub.com/showthread.php?t=52342&highlight=checklists) is a link to an old discussion on this topic. There are some links to checklists there ~ I didn't check to make sure they were still good.
I'm like Wayne ... I have a few different lists. However, the trailer is packed and ready to go at all times. The lists are what I need to bring in addition to what is in the trailer.
Good luck.

That's not a "checklist". That's a book :p
It has a lot of great ideas in it but it certainly isn't practical. A checklist (IMHO) is something that you use religiously before and after every campout. I can tell you for certain that
I would not use that kind of list. Although it may be fun and helpful to put together, it just isn't practical in the real world.
In order for something like a checklist to work, it should be condensed to 1 page or at least 1 page for each person that is assigned certain duties that pertain only to that person. That person should be held accountable for what is on the list.
If the list (in and of itself) becomes a daunting task, it will take all of the fun out of camping and will soon become useless. That's just my opinion.
I found this list.

lots more out there.
This is my Camping Journal page that I fill out @ a camp ground sort of a check list. I think it will help if you are new to camping. Good luck

OMG......we just spent an hour going over kirkpatrick's checklist.
We gleaned a lot of good stuff from it but it didn't include everything that pertained to "US".
I'm about to pass out, just going over his list to augment our list. It was great and I appreciate all of the effort that was put into his list to suite everyone but it was exhausting just to read it all :p . I guess that must pertain to the aging process :J .
I think the Kirkpatrick's must be as OCD as me!! ;)
This looks like something I would do!
I found lots of lists this spring and have made our own (smaller) lists. The one thing I did not do was a "set-up" and "take-down" lists. I'm finding that we need the take-down checklist (like a flight check list) because we are usually very tired by that point and keep forgetting things. We have had zero problems setting up, but there is always one thing during take-down that we have to stop and think through.
For me, one of the fun parts of anticipating a trip is working out the grocery list and packing list and stuff. It helps me get through work the week before and look forward to camping.
Have fun!
