I have some news that I'm very excited about. Many of us here have experienced it.
I paid off my student loans last week. It is a huge deal to me; a milestone, as a matter of fact. I can remember when the amount was scary and would never go away. I refinanced 3 years ago when the rates were low, and paid extra extra extra, and ended up paying the 5 year loan off early.
The dollar amount doesn't matter, but suffice it to say that it was 3 times what I was making in my first year of employment!
:D

Congrats Larry! I will be feeling your pain starting this month. The DH has to start paying off his student loans in the begining of June. One day we will be in your position. Oh happy days.
Congratulations Larry, there's no feeling as good as when you get a large debt paid off. Takes a huge weight off your shoulders........ :-()
Congradulations!! :-()
My third employer after graduating college gratefully paid off my student loans!! They used that as a signing deal ploy to get me to work for them, as a manager. Only to be "downsized" 28 months later! But hey, they paid off ALL my student loans!! :#
Kudos!!!
My older daughter will be finishing grad school in August with a very large student loan debt. It is encouraging to hear of someone actually finishing their payments on this.
That is just so cool. I remember when DH finally got his school loans paid off...it was just so liberating! The best to you and Holly!
Way to go!......sooo...what new truck is it you had your eye on? :)

2006 Victory Red Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with Duramax Diesel, Allison Automatic, Crew Cab.
...off the top of my head...that's all I could come up with. :)

Time for a camping trip to celebrate?

Yes, we are going on only our second trip out this year, this weekend. We have had a VERY busy spring. June doesn't settle down much, but we are jumping at the empty weekend.
We oughta look at a weekend in August again, like last year.

Hmmm....that Silverado would look good pulling a new camper, too. ;)
Congrats! My wife's student loans seem like they will never be paid off (4 more years). That is easily an economical car payment...
*soapbox on*
It is sad how much it cost her (public university - UC Davis, a good school, and good grades) to get her teaching credentials... and, sadly, how little teachers are paid for what they do and how hard they worked to be qualified to do it.
But, I love her for what she has dedicated her life to (preschool/Head Start disadvantaged kids).
I've read that in some cities, like Manhattan, people fight and lie and beg, and spend more on their parking spaces than (on average) they are willing to spend on their own childcare... :(
*soapbox off*
(add to that, the unrealistic/unworldly/un-everything cost of housing in California ($300k for a 1000 square foot condo in Sacramento), and the only way a teacher can exist is to give up everything, inherit, or marry a someone in the private industry :( )

We need teachers in Tennessee. :) 300K bucks will get you a nice house here in Franklin. And we have great places to camp!
You could make the move with the several hundred (?) coming from Los Angeles Nissan Hdqtrs, to Franklin, TN. :D

Congrats on paying off the loan. I know how good I felt paying mine off. Sort of like when I paid the camper off.:)
