dumb question... what the heck is DS & DD?? I'm new to PU camping... Thanks.
(driveshaft and differential?? I dunno)

The first D stands for dear, darling, dumb or something worse. The Second D stands for Daughter and the S stands for son. Sometimes you will see DW or DH and that would be for wife or husband.
