Post by: Tim5055 on Jul 05, 2006, 09:56 AM
From CNN.Com (http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/03/nj.budget.ap/index.html)

QuoteRoad construction and lottery sales were among the first casualties of the shutdown.

Race tracks and casinos, which require state monitoring, will be closed Wednesday if no budget is enacted by then. State parks, beaches and historic sites will close their gates on Wednesday.

Politicians...don't cha just love 'em?  Closing the casinos and race tracks is probably a good thing, though.

Typical government mentality...when something happens (or doesn't happen), seek out those who didn't do it in order to punish them.

A vicious cycle.  Shut down the things (lottery, state parks, even the casinos and racetracks) that ADD $$ to the budget, thereby causing budget shortages before you enact a budget and start everything back up.
