Title: Just got fired...
Post by: AustinBoston on Jul 06, 2006, 02:22 PM
Be careful what you wish for.

After a long and frustrating discussion at work this morning, I came to the conclusion that if this client did not renew my contract, I would not be disappointed.

At one O'clock this afternoon, I was brought into a conference room.  For the first time since 1977 (a cleaning job I had after school while I was in High School), I was fired.  It felt like both a relief and a surprise.  I was a little disppointed that I could not finish the project I was on, but they will have to live with the consequences.

As I drove home, I first spoke with my wife, then called my business agent.  He called me back just as I walked in the door.  I start my new contract (with an established client) Tuesday.

It's nice to be in demand.

Austin

I just went through the same thing a month ago.  Right down to the conference room part.  I even had the same feelings of surprise & relief.  The only difference was I found a job within a week, but told them I would start a week and a 1/2 later, that way I had a little vacation before starting.  The last job I was fired from was McDonalds when I was 16.  Just couldn't flip them burgers fast enough I guess.

It's the middle of summer, you get the the ideal opportunity for an extended vacation and

I think that you should be banned from every camping forum on the net.

I can't use the names I want to for you on this forum.  :swear:  I would not have thought of that angle if you had not said anything.  Now you've screwed up my summer.  :banghead:

In reality, PJay started her highest paying job ever this very morning.  She can't exactly quit after one day so we can take the summer off.

Ya..........welllllll....OK..........yer off the hook ..........this time.

Next time, ya gotta get your firings organized better. :p

Sounds like you guys are in for a bit of stress in your lives, for a while. Starting a new job is usually stressful until you get used to the new routine. I hope you get to work in some camping trips to ease it off a bit. ;)
