Title: Canvas repair or replace?
Post by: losdinspace on Jul 20, 2006, 08:08 PM
Greetings,

Thanks for the welcome form all!

Anyway I have an older Steury that I just got and the canvas overall is in good shape. It has the common black spots that I see everyone talking about and a few rips and tears. The windows are in rough sahpe and are a slight shade of green. All of the snaps and zippers are like new. What I want to know would it be better to send it to a repair shop or just order a complete new one from Bearcreek??

At first I did not want to have the stripes on it but the more I think about it the more I kinda like them.

What is better is a personal choice.  If the tenting is not dry rotted then it can be repaired.  The zippers being in good shape is a plus and you will not have to replace them.  If it has very much mildew I would want to get new tenting.  I can't stand the smell of it.  Good luck with the job and let us know what you decide and how it turns out.:)

Buget plays a part too. If I can repair it for a reasonable price I will try that. It does not have a mildew smell so that is a plus.
