Title: Need New metal clips for fan/lights!
Post by: edwardr132 on Aug 25, 2006, 04:40 PM
Anybody know where to get new metal clips for the fan/lights that plug into the 1/4 plug jacks?   Mine have plastic and one broke already.  I figure that metal is much more durable?  A mail-order internet place would be ideal!  Does anyone know if Camper's World carries them?

are you referring to the plug that plugs into the plug jack ? replacements can be found at radio Shack.
If you are referring to the clip that clips onto the shepherd poles, you can get those from the dealer or be made from PVC pipe.

Sounds like you are talking about the 1/4" power plug for them. You definately don't want a metal encased plug...it can be tight fit inside that plug for the wires...and contact between the polarities by a metal casing would pop the fuse faster than you can blink... Stick with plastic, it's non-conductive!!

I think you are talking about the metal clips that are mounted on the back of the light to enable attaching it to the bunk-end support pole. One of mine has metal clips (rubber-coated) and my other lights have plastic clips that do break easily. I have replaced those several times and would love to find some metal ones like the original.

However, until I do find some, the idea of making them out of pvc pipe is interesting. Please spread the word if you find them and I'll do the same.

I am talking about the metal clips (with a rubber coating on it) that are mounted on the back of the light or fan to enable attaching it to the bunk-end support pole.

Please help if you can with this.

I found them at Lowes, Home Depot, or any other well stocked hardware store. Look in the tool organization section. They are sold to hold tools, brooms or mops.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Get a tube of plastic rubber coating, the kind used on tool handles. Coat the metal tool clips and, voila!, it's like OEM.

Just an update...
I found metal broom clips at WallyWorld, took em home and coated them with the plastic stuff, screwed them onto the light and they are perfect. Looks like factory, but better since these won't break.
