Title: Major refrigerator problems
Post by: CoronaCamper on Sep 02, 2006, 03:04 PM
I have a 2002 Coleman Mesa. In the 4 years we have used our pop-up the refrigerator would not light in the propane mode on 2 seperate occasions. In 2002 we took it in to a Dometic dealer for this problem. On a trip this past July, during the last several days of the trip, the refrigerator seemed to work, but was not very cold. When we got home, we noticed a thick, yellow substance leaking down the back interior of the refrigerator. We found out from Dometic that that is coolant leaking out of the coils, and the refrigerator will have to be replaced. has anyone had similar problems with their RM2193 refrigerator?

There is a guy on Ebay Stores that sells cooling units, they are not all that difficult to replace... I didn't see one listed for your model, but you could email him and ask....may be cheaper than paying the dealer for a new unit....

With our small non thermostatically controlled fridges the cooling unit goes for about 80% of the price of a new unit with only a 90 day warranty instead of the 3 year one for a new one.As for have I ever seen them fail?  Yes, the "mean time for failure" runs about 12-15 years, but the very first 3 CF one I installed in 1977 is still running and one 10 CF I put in last summer failed within a week.
