Title: Add on for Fleetwood PU
Post by: rpstms on Sep 15, 2006, 08:13 PM
We had a great time camping this year.  As we come to a close I start looking around on adding things to the camper.  I would like to add an outside stove.  Any suggestions?

Does your camper have a propane hookup for an outside stove?:)

Easiest and cheapest way is to get a Coleman table top stove that works off the small propane bottles. This way you can set it up away from the PU.  :-()

Wise idea.  There are many reasons to do this.  Pop-ups are great at absorbing food odors, which can be a bad thing when camping in bear country.  If the stove is on a picnic table, it significantly reduces the risk of a cooking fire turning into a pop-up fire.  You can usually move a picnic table to deal with the wind, and can use a different part of the table if you can't move the table.  Turning the pop-up because the wind shifted is...impractial.

And let's not forget the price difference.  The top of the line Colemane propane stove is about $120.  The Vitco stove that comes on the side of a Fleetwood camper is significantly more expensive.  I haven't seen it in person, but I've been told that they are in the $300 range.
