Title: Help with the Electrical on our new p/u
Post by: campinincali on Sep 18, 2006, 12:29 PM
Hello all, we just purchases a 1997 Jay 1207DD and when we pull it in nothing happens.  Everything works fine with we run it off the battery, but not when we pull it in? Any suggestions? We have replaced all of the fuses, but still nothing.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
James and Linda

"when we pull it in nothing happens."
Sorry but that doesn't make your problem very clear.

Do you mean that the tail lights, stop lights and T/S aren't working?

Are you saying that your 12V is not working inside the camper when plugged in to 110V?

Are you saying that your 110V is working when plugged into house current but your 12V doesn't?

It would be helpful if you were much more specific about the problem and when the problem occurs.  :D

Sorry about that. The 12V (off the battery) works, but the 110V plugged into the house does not work.

Oh, "Plug" it in.

I would first check the 110V circuit breaker on the converter if you have one.

On some converters, you need to take the front panel off to check the circuit breaker. Another thing that you might try is, disconnect the battery and see if your 12V system is still working while plugged into house current.

The real purpose for the converter is to change 110V house current into 12V DC so that you can use the 12V appliances in your camper without draining the battery (while plugged into hose current).

Check for a switch on the converter. On my 97 coleman I had to switch between 120 and 12 volt on the converter.

That is what I had to do on my 95 Jayco.

Our convertor only shows one toggle switch that goes from battery to off to converter.  On the battery side it powers up, but on the converter side and we plug it in to the house current nothing happens.  We do not have a circuit breaker and we changed all the fuses.

You may want to check for breakers on the converter again. Me thinks the fuses are only for 12 volt. 120 volt is usually covered by breakers. What model converter do you have?

Lee- It was the circuit breaker. I thought it was for the A/C but once I flipped the breaker and plug it in it worked!!! Thanks so much everyone for your help!
