As far is which is better, the best camper(pop up) is the one you have,
or the one you re getting.
We have a jayco Eagle 10sg and love it.
birolThanks for the good wishes peoples, my fingers are crossed, BTW, I was just trying to stir trouble with that Coleman vs Jayco question, nobody bit :)
birolIf you want to stir the pot then you have to say three little letters... ABS [8D]

Stevie me boy,
I know that Washington is a sun deprived state, but please look at the latest information from Coleman, you can view their site at http://www.colemantrailers.com there is a new substance called alumiTite!! I would think that the amount of " ABS" used in the manufacture of today s popups is pretty close to equal across most REPUTABLE manufacturers. I realize it is a quick way to spark a debate, but it is always easlier and more useful when the info is accurate. Don t you agree?? [;)]
Look forward to see you in June.
Happy Campin <><
birolWay to go Birol . We have are fingers crossed.[;)]
birolI am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck.
birolWe ll say a prayer for you Birol!! btw, it may not be the IT job you want, but it may have the potential to work into something like that. I used to work for our local paper, and they always had positions being internally advertised. There were more laterals moves there than at your local pub on a Saturday night right before last call![:D]
griffsmomHey Birol! Great to hear your prospects are looking brighter. Any update yet... Its been two days now...
birolAN update, of kinds. Spoke with the guy today, he is going to call me tomorrow to discuss what I can do for him, and how much I would want for it. he runs a carrier network of 100 carriers and have difficulties controlling them. Basically I would run some of them ( I bet the worst ones) and make sure they distribute on time, collect on time. Looks like it is a " sort of a job" but, I don t care. He said, well, if you can make sure that they collect a few thousand bucks extra a month, then I will have money to give to you out of that (doesn t sound promising does it ?) , or maybe I already have money to give anyways etc kind of talk.
Anyways, we talk tomorrow, he said I want to pay you something which will make you want to do this, and also not so much that it hurts " him" , which makes sense.
Will jump at the opportunity to make money. Looks like I will have to drive a bit though, and at the rate the gas prices are going, if he doesn t compensate me properly, I might end up not making any moeny and basically working for the gas, sigh .... Life is never easy is it ?
Fingers crossed ........ I hope he offers me hunddrend thousand billion dollars [8D][8D]
birol---
birolI don t think any contract will be involved .....
We are one of his carries (have been for 14 months now), and he always paid what he is supposed to, so he has some credebility, but I agree with what you said. I think this is going to be a temporary thing at best. If I feel taken advantage of, I will simply stop doing what I am doing. I will make sure we agree on when/how I get paid, and make a note of them and give him a copy.
The last thing I need is for this to be a bad experience ....... I hope it won t be one, but my gut feeling disagrees with me. This is not what I expected as a job, but I will still give it a try and see how it goes. I hope he comes out with flying colours !
birol3:35 pm, no call yet, why I am not surprised ........
A very frusturated Birol.
birolOH, Birol, I am sitting here many hundreds of miles away and feel very frustrated and disappointed that you have not heard from this man yet . Maybe he got caught in some kind of time-crunch and will call you later, but like the rest of your friends here, I am concerned that this man may be planning to exploit you in some way and so I hope you will be cautious.
I have my fingers crossed for you and am sending my strongest wishes for something very good to happen to you soon!!
I hope you know how glad we are that you have moved with us to this board. I will never forget your beautiful essay on the old board about your deep, lifelong love of nature and your desire to share it with your kids. You will always be one of us no matter how long it takes you to get a pop-up!!
birolNightowl,
Thanks for the supportive words.
It is so difficult to be in this position after having a well above average salary for the last 23 years with no effort to even look for more money or compensation. I thought life would always be so easy. After all I am smart, have good working ethics, concienteous, always on time, on budget etc etc etc. I thought there would always be jobs for me out there. Opportunities always came to me, I never had to look for something better, except when I was really young, my third job, I had to seek.
I am trying to do my best not to irritate myself or the family, but sometimes I simply can t take it anymore. That is when I turn to the board, and vent some steam off. I apologize if I am upsetting any people, but you guys are a great bunch, and I get strength and morale support from you folks.
I am hoping that this nightmare will end soon now and I will start talking, innecasently, about my PU and how we camped here and there and bore you people to death [:D]
It is 11:05 PM, I don t think he is going to call anymore [:D][:D][:D][8D][8D][8D] GOod think I had some beer [&:]
birolNo worries birol, we re all in this together. I feel the same way you do. I thought I had that job at that dealership (but in 2 interviews, the only real question they asked was if I was going to be called back to Lucent since I was layed off. One even said he didn t want to hire me if I got called back after a month or so). Never thought it would happen to me, and after it did..thought I would find something right away, especially with letters of recomendation from much higher ups in Lucent, and being a vet (that was suppose to be a bonus to employers). I thoght I was safe...especially after I got my bosses tens of thousands of dollars in refunds after uncoverring fraudulent billing, and saving an average of 5,000/month. Sometimes it s hard to get out of bed, but do it for my family. It helps to vent, to blow off steam, etc. When I read yours, and others posts who are in the same boat as I, it gives me strength because if you folks are doing it somehow, we can do it to. Just keep pressing on. As my DW tells me, the perfect job will come along when the time is right. Plus sign on this end is an ad for a sales job at a RV dealership (don t think they sell PU s). Going to try for that one also.
birolGood luck to both of you (Birol and rednekrubbrduck). There is a reason that these things unfold the way they do. I hope that all works out for the best in the long run. It usually does. I ve been there before and so have others. Enjoy as best you can the time with your families while you have it. Just remember though, nobody says on their deathbed that they regret that they didn t work more.
Gamecock CamperThanks Stopher. One other thing that keeps me going is rememberring there are folks out there a lot worse off then us, and I should be thankfull for what we do have.
Gamecock CamperWhat renekrubbrduck said, I love spending time with my family, my daughter and son love it , to be honest we got so used to me being at home, it will eb a shock when I get that job and won t be home anymore, oh well we will worry about that later ! We will have the PU by then :)
rednekrubbrduck, I thought You had that dealership job safely tucked in and was making money, sorry to hear about the bad news. But you know what, SOmetimes it is betetr to let things go, one never know how it might have worked out (or not worked out), their mentality seems to be different little bit. I am sure something will come up real soon ! Our Leaders working on it (year right [8D]).
I thank God everyday that we have a roof over our head, and have food and still together after almost two years of this torture. Good days can t be too far away now ....
Gamecock CamperYeah, I thought I had it also, but think they were worried about me getting called back to Lucent (which could happen if the telecommunications market takes a drastic upswing). Interviewed at a RV dealership a lil south of us, and walked away with a good feeling. Only down side is it s commission based with a base of 1000/month. They sell mainly big ole RV s and 5th wheels. Chatted with the head guys for a spell about the lifestyle of camping and rv ing, so we ll see.
