Title: Towing accessories
Post by: ucguppy on Feb 03, 2007, 09:05 PM
I have a 2003 Grand Caravan awd with a 3.8 engine (GVWR 3500)and I will be towing a 2004 Coleman Tacoma (2100 lbs).  I need a tow package ... etc.  What are the best products  for the best ride?

I have a 96 model and you will need to be sure you have a weight distribution hitch (required by Dodge for trailers over 1000#).  I installed a tranny cooler and an additional oil cooler and made sure that my rear shocks were in good condition.

We towed all over the west (crossed the Rockies, Sierras, and Cascades multiple times) and never had a problem.  Just watch your weight - you are goimg to be cutting it close with the load in your trailer and the load in your van.  Read the owners manual and understand it and get your rig weighed so you really know what you have and aren't just guessing.

Good luck to you.

I have to agree with this.  Everyone I know (including myself) found out when they drove on the scale that they were over their expectations as far as weight was concerned.  In our case, we were within ratings, but much closer than expected.  Every axle was within 100 lbs. of rating  :%  but under.
